I don't know if that was an april fools joke from Randy but if it wasn't it should be.

The guy WAS great, now sadly he is a washed up WR wanting to be taken in like a lost puppy in a pet shop window.

Don't think high level is in his repertoir anymore.

Just Randys latest rant wanting to find a team willing to take a huge risk that he has something left....it's really sad to see.

Not true at all, he has proved many people wrong many times before. Moss has always played with much emotion and that is both a blessing and a curse. I don't see how anybody else BUT Randy can say what he has and has not got left. It's just as sad to see a thread like this ragging on Randy.

Why all the animosity?

if he gives it 100% on every play even when the ball is not comeing he's way he is the best in the NFL even at 34 years old

Randy may have been humbled enough to actually be able to be used in the proper role here--but I'd put those odds at about 1000 to 1. If he could just keep his mouth shut, do his job at drawing coverage away, stretch the field, and be happy with only getting targeted a handful of times a game, he could still be an asset, IMO.

With all of those points considered, I do believe that his days as a NE Patriot are done.

It's time for Price and Tate (or maybe a potential mid rd draft pick) to step up and give us a viable 'stretch the field' option.

i would much rather sign Moss for a 1-2 year deal for minimum or decent cash and use our draft picks for bulking up the lines or LB's.

He still has the talent...he just needs to feel the love.

My view of Randy is that he still has the talent, but lacks the desire to run every route and to play consistently... after his fall from "grace" the fire in the belly might be rekindled.

OTOH he may never change.. and just be a nice memory.

You cannot teach an old WR new tricks.

You cannot teach an old WR new tricks.

Probably not.

But remember his last year in Oakland? Everyone thought he was done and washed-up and lost a step or two.

I don't think last year was about talent so much as attitude. He's not the best WR in football, but I can think of a lot of WRs who will make rosters this fall who are nowhere near as good as Moss, even if he's lost a step.

It's all about his mental state.

Have you guys forgotten how awful he was for 3 different teams last year? He lost his starting job on the TITANS.

Right, its all about keeping little Randy happy.

The juice isnt worth the squeeze.

Why all the animosity?

Why?

Because he is DONE ,FINISHED , ITS OVER

He WAS one of the greatest WRs ever in the history of the game and is 100% HOF bound but its time to RETIRE ....He proved he was done near the end of 2009 and all of 2010 for 3 TEAMS.

Some dreamers in here who have been stuck in a 2007 time capsule think he has something left in the tank when he has failed for the Pats,Vikings (after a VERY short stint) and the freaking Titans
who have a laughable WR corps.

Some of you love to hold onto fond memories forever thinking they will somehow come back and return to form of 2007 redux....got news for you,the 2007 Randy ship has long sailed...he is a backup type WR at this point at best...

Decoy is his game now and every once in a while a great catch and play, but thats it.

Why should he say other wise? What do you want him to say "Nah, I don't think I can contribute much now, can I have a paycheck please?".

Best he says nothing and let the other 31 teams decide on their own if they are in need of a decoy or backup depth.

Probably not. But I wouldn't be surprised if he had a solid comeback year either. Moss is pretty unpredictable.

I highly doubt anyone in here is in position to determine if Moss still has it or not. At best such a proclamation is a wild guess.

What should he say? "I really suck now."

Even saying, "I've lost a step but can still be a decent decoy," would show a lack of confidence.

You see the kind of workout routine he keeps?
Plenty of wrs have played until there late 30s
he clearly misplayed and screwed last year up and maybe two years means his talent is to far gone or it could mean he was just stupid and has something left.
Either way his return here is slim but I could be ok with it

I think that Moss still has it in him to be an elite WR from a physical standpoint.
The $1million question is, does he still want to, as in can he sustain that level of play? Sadly, I have my doubts.
