pros and cons to upcoming call with Brissett

I think we should activate him, it's important for him to get reps, you never know.

IR Richards.

Just barely. No snaps on D. 6 on ST they can live without. First time that he was active and had no snaps on D - more importantly, first time J Jones got snaps ahead of him.

Music to my ears Justin Coleman and limited snaps wouldn't want him to hurt himself or the D.

Jacksons time has come and gone though. Brissett is the only designate to return guy we have.
But if we need the roster spot we would have to cut him not IR him if we lose this window.

DUH!!!
Correct

Big Bisquick fan, but I'd keep the roster spot for an "unexpected" need arising after 2 division games. Jacoby won't suffer missing the next several weeks, most of them unavailable to developing players after 1 Jan on most NYJFL teams.
If they need Brissett during the playoffs, they're done anyway.

I know the coaches love Brissett a lot, but do we really need to have 3 QBs on our depth chart going into the postseason?

Yes.
First, you never know.
Second, the practices are valuable, we will have to soon take a QB decision and he may affect the outcome of this equation.

Who all do we have on IR?

I thought we could choose anyone to activate from them? (So long as they have been on IR for what 6 weeks?)

I thought the whole designate thing changed for this year

If you're planning to have Jacoby as your backup QB next year behind Brady, it's probably wise to get him some reps in playoff-level practices. I agree with the decision to activate him.

IR Richards is the easy answer although Foster has already told teams he doesn't want to go elsewhere so please don't claim him - but that wouldn't stop some team like NYJ from claiming him anyway.

I don't like this move for two possible reasons.
1. Waiving and probably losing someone that could be useful now or future.
Or even worse, putting Danny on IR.
2. This could also be connected with plans to move on from Jimmy after the season which Id hate to see.

The second part I understand and it's reasonable even though I disagree with your POV as I don't have an issue with trading JG.

But getting physical practice reps is pretty important for rookie QBs. If you IR him he is essentially sidelined until spring training. I think this practice time is more important than the fringe player on the 53.

Doubt Dola ends up on IR, I think his boot visit was just one of the first checkpoints for the medical staff.

If BB would spend more time in the game threads instead of coaching his damn team, he'd have a better idea of what moves he needs to make.
Exactly, This is the clown who eviscerated the defense by dumping Collins and trading for Kyle Van Noy. Just last week he decided to give his 250 lb league leading RB a rest and base his game plan on running his 5'8" scat back up the middle. I'm just gonna sit back and be entertained.

At least he reads the game threads in real time so he knows what adjustments are needed.

He did.

Its Hamilton .. quite a surprise.
Maybe he can make it through waivers although some are already signing for the future.
Kilgo did make it thoug.

And isn't “organized chaos“ what Matt's preparing for playoff D (with glimpses already showing) ..?

If Ebner is tied for the league lead in ST tackles, then why was Slater named to the Pro Bowl
popularity contest?

I kid, I kid…

I am in complete agreement with the wisdom that activating Brissett is a waste of a roster spot that
should be better-filled by adding insurance at other positions, including OL (Jamil Douglas), big RB (Tyler Gaffney), TE (Baby Gronk), and DT (Woody or Kilgo or - preferably - somebody actually good).
Three DTs is simply one, if not two, too few…and 13 DBs - I include Slater among them; I refuse to have my intelligence insulted by listing him among the WRs - is AT LEAST one too many. So do us all a favor, Bill, and send the less-than-useless Jordan Richards to IR. And while you're at it, you should also "take the chance" of passing the redundant DJ Foster through waivers in order to sign him to the PS.
That's 2 spots now available for the help needed at the aforementioned positions. You're welcome.
