Props to Dumervil for a clean hit

I wish it was, but you aren't allowed to bury your helmet in the chest of the QB like that in the NFL.
Yes, you are—as long as you don't launch yourself, don't hit above the shoulders, and don't lead with the crown of your helmet (i.e. "see what you're hitting").

Dummervil's face mask was squarely on Brady's body.

The hit was textbook.

I don't think Solder's going to enjoy watching that play in film review.

how about these quotes from your "textbook"....?

"The Broncos have faced other "stout" run defenses. Minn, Chicago, Miami, NY, Cincinnati, yet still have the top rushing attack in the league.

It's the Pats D who could be in trouble, esp. if Tebow can continue the trend over the last 3-4 games of improving as a passer.

The Pats D was tailor-made for just such a step forward.

Defensively, the Pats only hope is to force Tebow to throw, yet they are so weak in the secondary that's not exactly an appealing choice."

Hi Nostradumbazz....you lost these words from a day ago...thought you'd like your expert takes returned....you really nailed it....oops...didn't mean that in a crucified sense of the word....jeez, it's just so difficult to step around all the negative imagery when dealing with your "Chosen One!!!!!!!!!"...I feel like Pontius Pilate when he...DOH!...there I go again....oh well, hey, YOU were great and so knowledgeable...thanx for speaking for Dumervil on that play that meant so so much to you and all Broncos fans...as they say on Planet Moron..."THAT proves it!!!!"

He led with his helmet and he better get fined because the same thing happened to Carter (that hairline issue).

Didnt Wilfork get flagged and fined for the same hit last year?

Wilfork got called for holding on a PASS PLAY in the 4th quarter...A PASS PLAY!!!!!!!...holy jeezus...and then Carey just stands there staring as Denver OLmen trip, grab, push from behind, pull the shirts from behind and chop block with impunity the entire fourth quarter....I don't want to read ONE piece of mouse peeping coming from this fanbase about the refs....

Do you have a link to the rule? I always have zero luck finding the NFL's official rules, so I just work on how they seem to be enforced. I have no doubt that the hit is in fact legal... I just wish it wasn't called a penalty 7 out of 10 times.

Actually, I pretty much nailed it.

I said the Broncos would be able to run on the Pats.

They did, to the tune of 252 yds.

I said Tebow would be able to throw on the Pats. He did, and most commentators said he took another step forward as a passer.

And for awhile, the Pats looked to be in trouble. (Don't believe me, check your own 1st qtr game thread.)

I said it would all come down to the Broncos' ability to contain Brady (they couldn't).

I also said repeatedly that the Broncos would need to hold the Pats to under 24 pts to win.

Man, am I good or what?

Didn't count on the turnovers.

But the Pats came to play and showed why they're still one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the League year in, and year out. Even without the turnovers, I think the Pats were the better team. Possible we could've won with some help, but NE didn't give it to us.

Kudos.

Hope to see y'all in the playoffs. Not sure the outcome would be any different, but like I also said, I expected 6 wins this year, and we still have a better than 50-50 shot at the playoffs, so I'm reasonably happy.

Troll out.

Agreed. No, I don't have a link, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's defined.

My feeling is if anyone gets that call, it's going to be Brady. He didn't complain a bit, and I think it's 'cos he knew it was clean.

Can't believe he held on.

yeah...Denver got 225 yards in total offense in the first 12 minutes...after that?...one drive in the 4rd quarter for 89 yards, when they were hopelessly behind anyway...big deal...from the 3 minute mark in the 1st quarter HERE is Denver's TOTAL yard stats, not just your precious running yards you seem to still be clinging to like a Titanic life preserver, drive after failed drive...0,22,7,24,6...and THEN 89 on that drive in the 4th quarter, a drive that essentially added up to garbage time...after that...15 and 5 yards to finish up. Seriously, what the hell are you talking about? This "TUNE" you keep harping on all came in the first 12 minutes...the Pats adjusted and your "TUNE" went off key and completely FLAT. The game is FOUR QUARTERS ,not the first 12 minutes...welcome to the real world ,Mr. Anderson..........

In BB's and VW's post game pressers, they pretty much said they had implemented plans in practice to stop certain formations. They came out early just wanting to see what the Bronco's would do so they could get some shots of it, and then counter with what they worked on.

It sounds like a convenient excuse, but when you look at the numbers, it certainly looks plausible.

Once NE adjusted, Denver didn't do a single thing until late, after it was long over.

Denver showed all their cards in the first few minutes, were victims of a few turnovers, and couldn't do anything to save their lives. Theme of the game was "sideline adjustments" according to VW, one team did that well, the other, well, didn't.

It was a hell of a hit. Fortunately, the Patriots tackles were able to hold their own (with and without help) for most of the day, because that's where this game was won, along with Fox kicking the field goal. Light keeps playing well, and Vollmer is all but non-existent. It's a good thing the Patriots were able to bring him back.

In other words, when it comes to the subject of the thread, you got nothin'...

Who's trolling whom?

It scared me but that hit was great. I know its been forever but Brady has taken many hits like that back in the day from Jason Taylor and Aaron Schobel and for the most part pop back up like nothing happened. Just like Bledsoe, Brady has always had great durability and is not afraid in the pocket.

On a side note, if that was any quarterback named matt(shaub, stafford, cassel, etc) that hit would have put them on ir. lol

Shouldn't have been flagged. Sure as heck shouldn't have been fined.

LOL you are just plain amazing. Spouting off about the rule, like you have a clue, then when presented with a similar play, where a patriot player not only was flagged, but also fined, you say both the ref and the league were wrong. While I don't agree with the rule, the rule is the rule, there will be a fine, welcome to the NFL, now go back to your hole and hide.

I held my breath as it happened!

But as a hit, it was brilliant! If that was from a Pats player on a QB, we would be raving about it!

Possible that it was such a perfect hit, that it didn't hurt!

Um, I was just agreeing with sly24's assessment that Dummervil's hit was a "hard hit, but a clean hit."

Apparently you don't have to be a Bronco homer to understand that...

Quite a few others on the thread share the same opinion.

IMO, it was very close to the hit by Carter on Rivers. Also agreed with sly's take that the rule isn't consistently applied.

I can cut the ref's some slack on the judgment call. The League, not so much.

The rule's one thing. The judgment of those applying it another.

Edit: There is one BIG difference. Rivers was in the process of throwing the ball. Brady wasn't, so "roughing the passer" doesn't apply. So, I may have been wrong about whether or not Carter should've been flagged. I stand by my opinion it wasn't worthy of a fine. It was a football play, and nowhere near as bad as Harrison's recent play.

And thanks for welcoming me to the NFL! How long have you been in the League?

You let me know when Dummervil gets fined, and I'll come back out of my hole.

Until then, talk amongst yourselves.
