Butch Jones has a mind? Who woulda thunk it?

Combine can be a rough place:

Cornerback Isaiah Oliver sat on his forty time from the combine but participated in the rest of the testing, touching 35.5 inches in the vertical jump, 10-feet-6-inches in the broad jump, 3.94s in the short shuttle and 6.85s in the 3 cone. Several people informed me he looked terrific in position drills.

Great agility numbers from Oliver. Surprised he didn't run the 40 again, but I guess he was happy with 4.51. Funny how the psychology of numbers plays into things. If he had run 4.49 he probably would receive a ton more buzz. But with his long arms and easy movements, he should still develop into a CB #1 over time.

Interesting note about the Marshall QB. I could see him thriving here as a backup, although I don't know if he has starter upside.

Pro Day March 7: Alabama/Colorado/Colorado State | Draft Analyst

Davis ran 4.45, an improvement of about .05, as expected at a pro day. He is incredibly rocked up for a corner, and on tape is my number two guy for a man to man press scheme (overall, I grade Ward ahead of him, and Alexander about equal, but with more versatility since he can also play slot; Davis has elite size and physicality for the outside though). Johnson wasn't too far behind him, either, coming in between 4.49 and 4.54.

Interesting slot guy. Watched some games, and his speed flashes on tape. Solid tackler, too. Plays closer to the line of scrimmage than generally expected for a guy his size. Not afraid to come downhill and pop the ball carrier. That kind of workout probably puts him in the late 7th, but his size might keep him undrafted.

I think the Draft Analyst site updated after my post, because I am really excited to see this line in particular from the current pro day report:

I’m told Nick Caserio of the New England Patriots was on hand specifically for Nelson and Cichy.

As you may know from my other posts, I'm a huge fan of Nelson and Jamerson. Nelson showed up well, as I expected, in his agility tests: 3.89s in the short shuttle and 6.70s in the 3 cone.
