Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

Why do they have Welker running streak routes?

Re: Why is Belichick coaching the Pro Bowl?

I'm not sure how it's decided, but I do know that the two teams that had the best records have their coaches coaching the Pro Bowl, so I'd assume that that's it? Highest-seeded teams that aren't in the SB send their coaches?

Teams with highest win % that are not in the SB send their coaches I believe.

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

Cassel gets intercepted in the pro bowl.

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

god the pro bowl sucks

Re: Why is Belichick coaching the Pro Bowl?

It was when it was the week after the Super Bowl. Now it's the highest seed to lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

yep. not enough time now.

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

The NFL needs to have some sort talent competition like the rest of the major sports.

Here are some ideas:

...
*Fat Guy Races. The NHL had goalie races. How about Big Vince and Kris Jenkins run the length of the field...twice

...with EMT's with defibrillators running alongside...

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

I thought there would be one.

i see it as kind of a tribute to the fact that most Pats fans had better things to do this evening...

Re: Pro Bowl: Mankins starting at RG

Any theories?

My first inclination was that BB is letting Mankins showcase his versitility (to other teams).

or maybe its just for ****s and giggles.

i'm not sure they get to showcase much of anything at the Pro Bowl, unless it's their ability to avoid getting hurt.

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

I knew this was a trap game.

Re: No Official Pro Bowl thread?

Matt Light at right tackle. Prelude to next year?

Matt Light can't play right tackle. I know, I read it on patsfans.com

NIce to see McCourty get an INT in his first pro bowl game ever. The rest of this was just kinda ugly. LOL. Lots of points scored by both teams and lots of mistakes by the AFC squad. That's about as bad a first half as you can have.

This game doesn't work on so many levels, part understandably because of the nature of the game and rules changes intended to minimize injury. But it's getting worse as the # of players who legitimately back out when it's held post conference round is compounded by the # of players unavailable due to a game that matters most next week...

They'd probably be better off now with some kind of skills challenge format like ESPN used to host in the off season. Only with the all star cheerleaders slotted into the mix...

All I came away with from watching even a smattering of this debaucle (which I only did to get one more glimpse of the Patriots players before god knows when again) is Rivers can't cut it in the post season no matter how many pro bowlers you surround him with, Manning may well be hitting the back nine, and those rumors of Bradshaw's demise a while back may not have been that far off...he looked like a talking head corpse. Having Fox cover the SB makes me almost glad we missed out on this one...

what the ****? lol rivers did fine

you've got a olineman, probably one of your guys letting a dlineman get his hands up to tip a pass

then you've got brandon lloyd quitting on passes all day.....

rivers did as good as possible with all the drops his recievers were supplying, and all the quitting the afc defense kept doing....

The quarterbacks thought that they were competing in a Brett Favre lookalike competition.

I can't believe they ran up the score like that on us and no one said anything. We had a few Jets on the team for a reason, I thought....

I watched the entire game from start to finish. I do like the move to the week before the Super Bowl...I just can't be bothered to watch it the week after because I have switched out of football mode by then. The week before, however, can at least hold my interest. And I enjoyed the commentary. The game is a joke and the announcers know it, so they were just BS'ing the whole time. It was actually refreshing. The players were also pretty lighthearted and you could tell they were enjoying themselves, so that's something.

Quality wise, it was worse than preseason. At least preseason has guys trying. I don't get lining the D up for PAT attempts and such. And while I can appreciate no one wanting to get injured, it's just not interesting to watch the OL and DL just half ass it out there. I will spare anyone my player reviews, since you can tell the guys are just goofing around out there. I did like McCourty's INT, though.

Also, the reason Belichick lost was because he was wearing red. I hope he finally learned his lesson. However, he should ALWAYS coach wearing a lei (however you spell it, the flower thing). He's also pretty quick witted, which you can forget about when watching the press conferences all season. If Saragusa would have stopped talking over him, we'd have probably gotten some big laughs.
