You just answered your own question. Jimmy G looks good because he's a backup playing against backups. Brady's a starter playing with half a lineup of backups against starters.
I dunno how long you've been watching the Pats in the preseason, but they're generally underwhelming. There's zero reason to get worked up about it. Calm down, go chug a beer, etc. Not worth getting stressed over this stuff.
Because Jimmy G's doing it against third/fourth stringers that will be selling insurance next month. I've felt this way pretty much every preseason. The offense never looks good, especially when we're missing multiple OL starters against a good DL's starting group.
