Pre Super Bowl Thread- On to the Rams

Good to hear the reports from Reiss, although I take Belichick’s positivity with a grain of salt since he says the exact same thing every single time.

Well in 2007 there were reports that Bill was so disgusted with the team that he cancelled practice midweek.

Its just, if he was better within a day my money is on food poisoning. Most likely from one of those ATL restaurants
Or, it could’ve been the top of the line presidential type of medical care that these athletes are receiving, in terms of hydration, IV fluids, state of the art holistic approaches, Tamaflu, etc.

Hell, they’ve got the coaches sleeping in floating tanks that simulate a full night of sleep.

That was a bit of an outlier, and it also occurred midweek. I’d be surprised if he said anything other than “we’ve practiced hard and we’re ready to go” on the Friday before the game. At least that’s what he’s said all of the recent times.

People here will be talking about his confident demeanor at today’s press conference and that’s great, but it’s the same story every time.

They were exhausted by the end. Bill cracking the whip the last week before the game didn’t help.

They were feeling lots of added pressure too in 2007. I remember even veterans like Seau saying "this is our chance to make history" or something like that.

I thought Uh-oh. Not what you want to hear, and what we usually hear, which is more like that "we have a game to win and we need to play better than they do."

And yet if the combo of a hobbled Brady + an injured Neal doesn’t occur, they still win the game.

Or a once in a lifetime helmet catch from a guy who would never go on to catch another pass.

Damian Williams destroyed the Patriots in the 2nd half of the AFCCG beating linebacker coverage. How they handle Gurley is the key to this game defensively.

Since the Rams are more of a zone not power running team, the Patriots will play a lot more dime than you would expect so Gurley will be covered by a DB not a LB. I expect the Pats to play a lot of 5 man front with High and KVN on the ends. Being wider will help them set the edge better. No one is talking about it but the Rams OL doesn’t match up well with the athleticism of the Patriots’ front. That will come to a surprise to many of the experts on this board and in the media.

I think you’re also going to see a little more zone than usual and this is one reason why. The other is the Pats are going to really pressure Goff and in zone they’re more likely to get a pick or two.

Can you expand on the Pats DL vs Rams OL matchup?

Interesting article by Phil Perry:
How can you stop Rams? Coaches offer ideas

I liked this quote from a head coach who played the Rams this year, regarding the Rams offense: "It's the [bleeping] Patriots," the coach said. "They know what the [bleep] they're doing. I think you can hold this team under 30. They could score 30. They shouldn't score 40. The question is can the Patriots score 35?"
YUP I am thinking the magic number is 37 to win this game.

All I ask for is a tank that can simulate a full day of work.

Anyone concerned about the special teams matchup? Rams kicker is good to go from 57-60. Gost also seems to come up short in these games. Not to mention the fact they have the best punter in the league.

Gost needs to kick the ball through the endzone. Because as I said, their kicker can drill them. There can be no missed XP's or failed fg's from 35 or less. These need to be points.

Stop Gurly....dont let Talib intercept the ball....no more than two sacks on brady...use white - a lot....win game....

I want this game bad. Only because it would hurt to lose 2 straight super bowls but to beat the same team twice. it would feel great. I feel like we have to atone for last year's super bowl performance because i still have a bad taste in my mouth from that game. I dont know what is going to happen but that's the beauty of it.

Hoping the game will be just like this for the Rams as it was for this Ram.

Jerome Bettis is going to be the one walking the lombardi down the line

If Brady is going to throw his customary Superbowl Int, I am hoping it will be early and not in our half.

We have a running game this time. Last year we had 2 undersized backs. Now we got Sony who’s better at inside runs. He needs to be on his a game. No stupid turnovers

Indoors, Gost will blast it through the endzone every single time he wants to and have range to 55.

A big red flag to me is that this defensive group is basically the same group that gave up throw after throw to Nick Foles a year ago. As good as they were against the chargers, they gave up 24 points in the 4th quarter against the chiefs. The chiefs kept picking on JC Jackson and it worked. This isn’t your 01 defense but hopefully they can get the job done
