If the cancellation happens, Chiefs clinch the 1 seed on Saturday unless they lose to the Raiders and that’s not gonna happen. Sucks that they’re gonna be handed it as a freebie oh well.

In that scenario the Bills starters will play against us but maybe not the whole game. Will they limit Allen’s snaps against a good Pats pass rush? Allen has an elbow and ankle problem.
Good analysis, cutting through a lot of "noise." Thanks.

Weren't supposed to have a prayer against the niners
Chiefs have the best passing offense in the league. Mahomes > Brock Purdy. The Raiders pass defense stinks.

Unless Stidham goes off again and that's doubtful I can't see how they keep this close. Chiefs also know the #1 seed with the bye and HFA is theirs if they win (assuming the Bills Bengals cancellation)

I think a football schedule is not as important as the thoughts of football players. IMO there should not be NFL football games for the next two weeks. Then reset to the Bills & Bengals game on a Monday night followed by week 18 and then the playoffs and Super Bowl. Yes TV will have to adjust their schedule and I believe they can do it during the two weeks off. Same for the cities involved they can adjust. Everyone get your head screwed on properly.
If your scenario includes moving the Super Bowl back by even 1 day, then you can forget it. There is a line the NFL will draw to accommodate any number of unimaginable tragedies and that line is the pot at the end of their rainbow - The Super Bowl. That game is scheduled for February 12, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. and won't kickoff 1 second before or after.

Yes, Mahomes is going to get MVP (unlike your prediction of Timmy), but over the past month:

Mahomes - 10 TDs, 4 INTs

Purdy - 10 TDs, 3 INTs

I'm not saying the Chiefs won't win, but I could definitely see the Raiders keep it close. It's a division game and they'll be motivated to knock KC off the 1 seed.

This is their damn job. It sucks to have someone seriously injured but the rest of the world moves on with their lives. This isn’t their child or wife or parent, he is someone they work and travel with. Almost everyone on this board would be back at work the next day if one of their fellow workers was INJURED! He isn’t dead he is in the hospital. Some of you hold these athletes to some special god like place. A guy at work had a heart attack a few years ago. He lived but almost died. Work didn’t close down
We lost a co-worker in a horrible accident the year that I retired. He was a fantastic 39 year old man with 4 young children. Of course we had to move on but it wasn't easy at all. Just being in the same locations would have us thinking of him. I think the Bills will be in that situation when they resume playing.

For some reason people seem to fawn over celebrities. My wife is one of the worst at that. She thinks that Al Roker's a sweetheart even though she doesn't know anything about him other than the act that he performs on the boob tube. Michael Strahan is another one.

Brady can still win Super Bowl MVP

Mahomes is better than Purdy so the fact the Raiders were close against the 49ers is irrelevant. Stidham won't have 2 games like he did in a row. Chiefs will stomp the Raiders and their crap pass defense.

That would be something considering Brady hasn't beaten a team that has a current winning record since week 1.

This seems reasonable. Everyone gets a bye.

The Bills-Bengals game most likely will not be played and ruled a no contest. KAN is going to beat LVR on Saturday and lock up the #1 seed. BUF and CIN will be playing their respective games for the #2 and #3 seeds. If BUF beats NWE then they lock up the #2 seed. If BUF loses to NWE and CIN beats BAL then CIN locks up the #2 seed (based on the most likely 'strength of victory' tie-breaker).

KAN makes out the best in the above scenario. Beat LVR, secure home field throughout, and probably go on to win the SB.

BUF loses out on a chance for the #1 seed if KAN wins so therefore they've lost 'controlling their own destiny.'

CIN loses out on a chance for the #1 seed because even if they beat BAL and KAN loses to LVR, KAN will have a better record by 13-4 to 12-4.

BAL loses out on a chance for the AFC North. Even if BAL beats CIN for the second time this season, CIN will have the better record by 11-5 to 11-6.

So, the ramifications of declaring the Bills-Bengals game a no contest are huge.

1. Bills forfeit. This is the best outcome since it not only guarantees Pats make playoffs but they don't even have to play. We can then sit back and laugh at the Dolphins and Steelers for playing meaningless games. Bonus is that with new possible playoff schedule having NFC WC games next week, the Pats get Wk 19 off!!!! Team can rest for 3 weeks until Wk 20 when they're probably on to CIN, and we know how that'll go.
Can people stop even mentioning "forfeit." It's not on the table under any scenario. An L is not going on their record because one of their players literally died on the playing field and had to be brought back to life.

Declaring it a no contest is the equivalent of giving Buffalo a loss and Cincy a win.

That streak will end next weekend. Are you ready for yet another Brady deep playoff run?

How does a no contest work? All stats up to the point of suspension nullified? Streaks kept alive if there are any?

'No contest' meaning the game is wiped off the schedule entirely. Each team has a 16 game schedule for the 2022 season.

Game doesn't count at all. Stats from the partial first quarter are wiped out.

No it's not. It's like it never happened. If that were true, Bengals would get #2 seed just by beating Ravens which isn't the case.

We live in a generation of reactionary mob rule. That's what social media is built on.
The NFL only cares about money (it is a business) and money comes from advertising which depends on customer acquisition & loyalty.
So no matter how many senseless or shocking deaths occur around these same people, if they self-perceive one to appear negative to their marketing, it supersedes all logic and consistency.
It's also this pseudo-morality that declares that you punish the 99 healthy for the sake of the 1 sick.
That philosophy, and the culture that abides by it, will not survive long.

Mahomes and KC from a competitive standpoint will be extremely fortunate to have the Bills-Bengals game wiped out. It eliminates two very conceivable outcomes of them not getting the #1 seed. They also lost to both BUF and CIN so really they don't deserve the break at all.

And by the way, if Mahomes loses to Stidham in a must-win game, it's a disgrace. I don't care if Stidham plays the game of his life, Mahomes has to play better and get the win. Exactly how I felt when Brady faced Darnold last weekend.
