Pre-Draft State of the AFC

I'm surprised people think the Colts are so good. The Chiefs would have beat IMO if they didn't lose tons of players to injuries in the playoff game. And the Ravens seem to be getting underrated.

I would have it like this

Broncos
Pats

Ravens
Bengals
Chiefs/Colts
Steelers

Chargers

Everyone else

The Colts will get Reggie Wayne back, and they added Hakeem Nicks.

The Colts likely upgraded at ILB.

The Colts likely upgraded at DE.

Satele Sampson to Phil Costa at center? Ehh...

The Chiefs may have upgraded slightly at DE, depending upon your perception as to whether pass rush or rush defense is more important for a 3-4 DE. Beyond that, they've taken a step back on the O-line and not improved anywhere else.

They'll be relying on either the draft or addition by subtraction. The former, we're not supposed to be taking into account, and the latter is not generally an effective development tool.

The Bills DL is one of the best in the league, so is the Jets DL, and Miami isn't too far behind. If you were honest and had to rate the DL's at this point the Pats would be 4th in the division.

I'd rate the Pats above the Fins.

They made some decent acquistions but I still don't know how they're going to stop the run or the pass for that matter. KC dominated them through the air and the Pats pounded them with the run. They also can't run the ball so they're pretty one dimensional, esp w/o Donald Brown.

The Ravens and Bengals seem more balanced to me.

The Colts get Bradshaw back healthy, after losing him early last season. That should improve the running game.

The Colts signed Jackson and Jones. That should improve the run defense.

And balance is wildly overrated around here.

Yeah those guys should def help.

1. Patriots
2. Broncos
-i like us a bit better because, I love the secondary and with a healthy Wilfork/Kelly to go along with emerging players like Collins/Jones we can have a top 5 defense.
3. Colts - I think this is the year that Luck makes top 4 QBs the top 5 now. There is offense with Nicks/Wayne/Hilton and Allen will be elite.

4. Steelers - They're solid and Big Ben can win them games. They are a team in the playoffs that a weak team will want to play, but the favorites would want to avoid (if that makes sense)
5. Bengals - Not a fan of Hue Jackson as OC
6. Chiefs
7. Ravens
8. Browns
9. Bills - should be higher, but EJ Manuel is their QB
10. Fish
11. Raiders
12. Jaguars
13. Titans
14. Jets - they went for a dangerous secondary to one of the worst
