Patriots blog - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com
As they reach the tail-end of their draft preparations, the Patriots are scheduled to hold private workouts with defensive tackles Chris Baker (Hampton) and Terrance Knighton (Temple) at Windsor (Conn.) High School tomorrow, according to the agents for both players.
Knighton is a kid I like a great deal for Day Two; classic Patriots prospect - Team Captain, three year starter with a great freshman season to start him off, productive, hard working, his stats spell out ball awareness [multiple PBU's, FR's, BK's, + positives for screen awareness and hustle after plays away from him and downfield], great All-Star week got him an invite to the Combine. He was also reported to be a visitor to Gillette, I don't know if that was confusion with this PW or if he had a good visit and they are taking the opportunity to work him and Baker together for a side-by-side comparison and to have two big guys push each other around...

Baker is not on my board; his Head Coach at Hampton felt he came out too early and he's only been straight the one season after Penn State kicked him out...I believe he still has a year of probation to go from his Penn State troubles. The physical tools and production are there, but he gets another black mark for a note reporting he stands around too often...

Kid can play special teams too. Blocked 3 kicks in the Mac last season. He is definately worth a look between rounds 4 and 6.

Bradley Fletcher is a throwback.

Fletcher’s trip to the City of Brotherly Love comes after visits to Indianapolis, the New York Jets, and Atlanta. New England and Dallas flew into Iowa City to privately work out the Youngstown, Ohio native.

Onobun on NFL workout: 'What can it hurt?'

April 16, 2009, 12:39 a.m.
STEVE RIVERA
Tucson Citizen

Football could be in Fendi Onobun's future.

Over the weekend, the former Arizona basketball player worked out for the New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills. He was joined by former Wildcat football players B.J. Dennard and Marquis Hundley.
-----
The reserve forward never played football, but he has the seemingly perfect build for it. He's 6 feet 6 inches tall, 250 pounds.

That caught the attention of NFL scouts over the weekend.

"It went really well,'' Onobun said.

He said he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He had a vertical leap of 37 1/2 inches and his broad jump was 10 feet, 7 inches.

"As far as feedback, I heard I ran really good for a guy my size,'' he said. "Most tight ends were in the 4.6, 4.7 range.''
-----
"My heart is basketball," he said, "but it's not like I have NBA scouts calling me. If someone (in football) wants to take a look, what can it hurt? I'll give it a shot and see what happens.''

Ogletree a fit for Bears if they pass on receiver in second round - Inside the Bears
Ogletree a fit for Bears if they pass on receiver in second round
By Brad Biggs on April 16, 2009 2:45 PM
-----
That is why we introduced Virginia's Kevin Ogletree as a possibility here. He's gaining some momentum and the Bears might be more comfortable with someone like him and a safety who could compete immediately for a starting job than a receiver like Georgia's Mohamed Massaquoi or Oklahoma's Juaquin Iglesias and a safety later on in the draft.
-----
Ogletree has gotten to know Rex Hogan, who scouts the East for the Bears, and he has had four private workouts recently with Carolina, Miami and New England three of the teams to come in and visit with him. The Bears are not the fourth team. He has good size at 6-1, 196 pounds, and should be able to come in and contribute in some way as a rookie. He likes the fact that the class of receivers he is a part of is considered so strong.

Reservist's next mission is NFL Draft | InsideNova.com
Every goal Ernest Robinson has set, he has met; or at least most of it.
-----
Undrafted players have an opportunity to be picked up by teams after the draft as an undrafted free agent, which Robinson foresees as his best chance.
The Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers showed early interest in Robinson; the Panthers showing the most interest.
Recently, he was invited to an official tryout by the Philadelphia Eagles that was also attended by the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts.
Virginia Union University - 2008 Football Roster
Ernest Robinson

Position:
Height: 6-1
Weight: 235
Class: Sophomore
Hometown: New Orleans, LA
High School: Noth Stafford HS (VA)

Made the switch to the running back position, after spending last season as a linebacker…will see time at running back…very effective on special teams

Re: Updated list (99) - 4/17/09

04/14/09 - Utah cornerback Brice McCain still is moving up draft boards. He was at Valley Ranch on Monday, working out for the Cowboys. He also has worked out or visited with the Texans, Patriots, Eagles and Browns. "It's very exciting," McCain said. "I'm just trying to take it all in. It's happened fast. I'm just glad it's going my way." McCain, a Terrell product, wasn't invited to the combine. But after he ran a 4.33 at his Pro Day, his stock took off. He now is expected to be a late-round pick. - Charean Williams, Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Re: Updated list - 4/7/09

03/24/09 - Clemson Pro day: Michael Hamlin was not sure how Tuesday’s Pro Day at Clemson was going to work after he came up gimpy nine days ago at the Athletes Performance Center in Pensacola, Fla. “After last Sunday, I was not even expecting to work out today,” the former Clemson safety said. “I got more done than I expected.” But Hamlin, who hurt his hamstring, said he started feeling better early last week and decided he was going to suck it up and make the best of it. It's a good thing he did because it appears he quite possibly helped his status for April’s NFL Draft. “Hopefully, I have moved myself up a little bit,” he said. He must have done something right because scouts from Houston, Dallas, Miami and Cincinnati all approached him Tuesday and talked to him about how he could fit in their system. He plans to try and meet with each of them again in the coming weeks. Hamlin has already spoken to Seattle, New England, San Diego, Chicago, Pittsburgh and the New York Jets. In all, there were 25 teams in attendance to watch more than 20 former Clemson players workout in hopes of trying to improve their stock in the draft or maybe earn an invitation for a free agent tryout after the draft. Hamlin, who only did position drills, hopes the three-hour session moved him up the draft board. “I got to the point where I just sucked it up and did as much as I could today,” he said. - Will Vandervort, CUTigers.com

NFL Tryouts - Navy Sports Blog | Blogs | (www.HometownAnnapolis.com - The Capital)
Several scouts with National Football League teams have visited the Naval Academy to work out three potential professional prospects - fullback Eric Kettani, slot back Shun White and wide receiver Tyree Barnes.

Those three seniors all participated in a combine-type tryout with the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots a couple weeks ago. Last Thursday, a scout with the Baltimore Ravens ran the three players through an extensive series of drills.

Teams target tight end Nelson for size, speed - AP - NOLA.com
Since his freshman season, Southern Miss tight end Shawn Nelson had NFL potential written all over him.
-----
Nelson has made visits to teams' facilities for the Patriots, Saints and Titans. But NFL draft analyst Mike Detillier believes a couple of other teams are interested in Nelson.

"The Giants, they're one of the teams that's warmed up to him quite a bit," Detillier said. "Atlanta is also interested. I've talked to some people that are very interested in him because he'd fit into those schemes where they like to throw the ball to the tight end."

And this off-season Sorensen garnered interest from both the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots, working out for each NFL squad.

Re: Bump...

McAfee gets NFL attention
Pat McAfee is long on leg strength -- and confidence.

The West Virginia place-kicker and Plum native is on brink of being selected in this weekend's NFL draft. He's one of the top-rated kickers by most draft analysts and a projected late-rounder by some.
-----
McAfee, 6 feet, 228 pounds, handled all three components of the kicking game at West Virginia last season -- punting, field-goal kicking and kickoff duties. And he excelled at all portions of the triumvirate, which have the NFL scouts intrigued.
-----
The Indianapolis Colts extended one of their limited college prospect invitations -- rare for a kicker -- to McAfee a few weeks ago. He said the Colts, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys have been in contact with him most.
