It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I think it's easy now to say that he should have thrown to anybody other than Edelman, but the Broncos definitely deserve some credit for playing it perfectly. Edelman is supposed to legally pick the defender on White, and either because of a great read by the second defender or a preplanned double team, White was covered when he wasn't expected to be. In that moment, the easy read was that he was covered, and it seems that in that instant Brady didn't care to decide whether or not he was covered well.
The Patriots' Offense towards the end of the year were like a jalopy, parts were dropping off of the car and it was being held together with duct tape and bailing wire. The two weeks were clearly not enough to get healthy and their margin of error as a result was down to zero. They then made the mistakes that pushed it over the line.
The game was lost on the OL, specifically on Stork, Kline and Cannon. But the coaches didn't do anything to put them in a position to succeed. No adjusting of the snap count, no "no huddle" offense, no TEs chipping DEs before going out on patterns, no extra blocking when it was clear they were being overwhelmed. I've never seen a DL get such consistent pressure on the QB even when rushing three players. We were out of bullets. Next year our rotation should be Andrews at Center, Stork/Jackson/Mason rotating at guard and Vollmer/Solder outside. We're stuck with Cannon who got extended. Dola, Jules and Gronk were also clearly hurting and limited but they played their hearts out. I don't care to see LaFell in a Patriot uniform again. I guess that makes a Tackle, another Guard, an outside WR, and another TE the major needs for the draft. I think the Defense is mostly set.
Proud of the team and their fighting to the end and almost pulling the rabbit out of the hat. Credit to Denver, they won the battles physically and were deserving winners. Wonder if Bill and the gang are losing their edge a bit, those little things just weren't on our side this time like they usually are and they cost us.
Even Simms made a point of mentioning that Brady said he "trusted all the receivers that were playing". Ergo...Jojo is done in NE. Even when he was out there, he wasn't, y'know? All the deep sidelines were to ****in James White. Some of those used to go to Vereen (though sometimes out of wheel from backfield) but Lafell used to be that target too. This week they didn't even try that ****ty screen pass to him.
Not much to say. I'm numb with disbelief that they lost to this team.
1. The offensive line was terrible in this game and several others this season. Changes must be made in the offseason starting with the draft.
2. Their defense was superior to ours but only because 1. Is not good. The Patriots defense was excellent in the 2nd half. Championship worthy.
3. I screamed at my tv regarding not taking the FG with 5:56 remaining. The way the defense was playing I knew they were getting the ball back 1 or 2 more times. Whatever, if it worked and they got the 1st down and scored they win.
I think he meant 4-2.. And that would be SuperBowls..4-1 in what?
For those of you saying that Amendola didn't make the catch where Kubiak challenged, here you go..
At the 2 second mark, he gets control, then his right knee hits the ground while in the grasp of the defender, Webster. The ball doesn't come out until after Webster whips Amendola over. By rule, that's a catch.. What happens AFTER the knee is down doesn't matter.
White had SIXTEEN targets & only 5 catches...I think hey to him TOO much... Most targets on the team
who knows what a catch is? there is must make a football move portion which is vague. and also maintain control while going to the ground which is also vague.
What really hurts though about this loss is that people can say that Manning is 3-2 in the playoffs against Brady.
