Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Bills!!!!

Anyone who thinks the team is a disgrace because they remained within one score or tied with the Bills for a half of football doesn’t need to partake in the gameday thread; that’s my take. We are ultimately fans here - you can be upset with the team’s performance but to say they’re a disgrace repeatedly is several steps beyond.

And your post is a perfect illustration of the problem. Thank you for illustrating it. Your position is ridiculous, IMO. On that note, I'm done with this topic. If a mod is going to take a position like that, I don't need to keep pointing out the problem, because the mod's done it for me.

And your post is exactly the problem. Thank you for illustrating it. On that note, I'm done with this topic. If a mod is going to take a position like that, I don't need to keep pointing out the problem, because the mod's done it for me.

So far the only thing I know about your point is that you don't like the moderation. What, exactly, does his post illustrate? You made a definitive statement, he made a counter one and you said "see you're the problem".

You're not giving any other meaningful feedback other than repeating that you don't like it and anyone who disagrees is a moron. It's a shame you have to default to acting like an absolute prick when someone disagrees with you because you are a top 5 guy on this forum in terms of football knowledge and articulation.

I agree with you, which is why someone saying “what the hell was that? They suck!” did not get anyone removed. On the other hand, saying the equivalent of that at least once or twice per page of the thread, or just outright regularly proclaiming the team a “disgrace”, or repetitive attempts at trolling, caused removals. A couple people were removed and were re-admitted without any further issue. Of the 3 who ultimately remained permanently removed, only 1 asked to be let back in and was denied because the conversation did not seem like it would bear any fruit. So, I do not believe that we were heavily censoring the thread by any means.

GDTs aren't heavy analysis threads. They are reaction threads, based upon how a game is playing out, and people have been complaining about them since at least as far back as 2006. It should be expected that you're going to get a lot of "What the hell was that? They suck!" reactions, just as you're going to get plenty of "Yes! TB = GOAT!" reactions. Some people will take that too far, but this group is a bunch of pikers compared to the days of he who shall not be named.
THIS!!! Exactly.
I like it that way, hope it stays that way and will continue to read it.

I like when the nasty trolls get booted.
I like when posters get fiery and "over the top".

I was losing it at home, during the 1st half defensive performances.
May have thrown a "WTF?" in, here and there. LOL

I honestly don't see the problem, unless you are personally attacked.

What I do not like is the "I know more than you, therefore your opinion means squat", snobs.

I do appreciate the info given by the more knowledgeable posters.

But hey, live and let live.

If you like rollercoasters, just watch a Pats game

You're absolutely right, and it's healthy to BAN users who post opinions you disagree with--or better yet, to overreact and ban someone who was being sarcastic, as one of the mods evidently did. Really great look for this board. This is a healthy trend, and I see you are as intelligent in this thread as you are the other.

Did you ever stop to think that the person who was banned was a constant TROLL and that the Mod banned him/her from the thread to make it more enjoyable for a majority of the users? God forbid that the Mods do something like that..

And just how do you KNOW that the person was being sarcastic? Please, do tell. I'm sure Ian and the Mods would love to know how your Telepathy works..

My pointing out an obvious problem is not me having a problem. My disliking censorship, particularly needless and/or one-sided censorship, is not me having a problem. The whining of the homers, particularly the homers who start attacking and cussing whenever someone makes a negative comment in a game thread, is just as bad as the whining of the Chicken Littles, and their preferential treatment when they should be getting kicked out at least as quickly as the CLs if people are going to get kicked out, is the game thread having a problem, though.

I'm sorry, but not surprised, that you can't see that.

Yes, you pointing out a problem is you having a problem. Yes, you claiming to point out censorship is you having a problem. Just like you whining about "homers" is YOU having the problem.

I can see that even after more than a decade, you're still as sanctimonious as ever and think that your **** don't stink.

What were you losing? You are an ok poster but Christ get a grip.

Quite frankly, it's annoying as **** and it's selfish to populate the GDT with that kind of emotional diarrhea.

Next time, text your buddy and say WTF when the Pats give up a 6yrd run in the 1st qtr.

No need to post that kind of involuntary emotional brain movement

I hope Mike Tomlin and the rest of the competition committee takes a serious look at the catch rule this off season.

Maybe it should change to the following:

1. Two feet in bounds at anytime during the catch. Before or after the player secures the ball.
2. Survive the ground = having contact with the ball at all times whether it hits the ground and moves or not. If a player's hand is touching the ball throughout the process it's a catch.

Those two changes would solve both of the recent overturned TD calls.

1) It's not a catch until the receiver secures the ball. Saying "before or after" would nullify the rule the penalty of a player running out of bounds and then being the first to touch the ball upon returning.

2) Having contact with the ball is not control. The current rule actually allows for the ball to hit the ground after it's been secured as long as you keep control of it. The ball moving is not control..

The current rules are fine. The Pats have been burned by them as much as anyone. People saying that they haven't are being myopic and biased.

Okay, well I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed you. I only really got one response from you during this discussion but I guess we just plain don’t agree. I feel we are doing what is best for our membership.

The way I look at a Gameday Thread is that we are all together in a room watching the game. We all ride the same emotional rollercoaster together. But if someone in the room won’t stop screaming that the team is horrible and disgraceful after every failed third down stop, that person makes the rest of the room bummed out, and you end up with less people coming to the party next week. Sometimes you can take that person outside and talk to them and then they’re fine - other times you tell them to step outside and they do, they leave and never try to come back. I feel that this is a sensible approach, because ultimately we are trying to all enjoy watching the game together during those 3 hours it’s on. I’m sorry that you feel this is wrong and hopefully in the future you will approve more of what we do. It absolutely could’ve been done better, but myself and my fellow moderators did the best we could today.

I was losing my mind.!!
That's how I watch football.

I could care less if you don't like it.
Why don't you text your homer buddy, and tell each other how great TB is, and how they never make mistakes.?

See how that works.
This is a "public" message board with different opinions.

If you don't like that, fine.

Actually, your acting like the ones you complain about right now.

So "Get a grip"

Seriously, either make an applicable argument or shut the hell up, because right now you're just clowning yourself. Your posts on this topic have been every bit as moronic as anything said in any thread today. I don't need to be a mod to speak my mind about the direction of the board.

Take your own advice, Deus.

I’ve tried to discuss it, but oh well. I’m not sure why my position is ridiculous but it looks like I’m probably not going to find out.

If you voluntarily present your opinion on a discussion board and it is uninformed, blatant garbage or even worse it is lazy then you deserve to hear from people about it. If you feel like others shouldnt be able to point out how wrong you are then just stop sharing that opinion or maybe try to find out why you are wrong and learn from it.

If you keep posting garbage you deserve to be ignored, suspended or eventually banned. There is no argument about that.

I think you been doing a fine job.

It's the whining in the After game threads, that get on my nerves.

Like I've always said. I'll throw out a few "WTF?, He sucks" in the GDT's...

I think you weed out the trolls just fine.

But why do so many demand everyone wave Pom Poms and give golfer claps?

I'm too busy screaming at my TV

Was out spending Christmas Eve with family. From the previous posts I take it I missed a normal GDT?

This is a "public" message board with different opinions.

I think this gets at the heart of the matter. Yes you have a right to your opinion, but not necessarily the right to fire it off it as you see fit.

If you were at a restaurant enjoying some dinner, and someone kept yelling that they hate the food and that the place is pathetic, would you expect that person to be allowed to remain there indefinitely? It’s not that the restaurant is trying to censor that person, necessarily - it’s that they’re making the place less enjoyable for all of the other patrons.

Sorry if that’s a weird analogy.

I get you. .
I guess I'll just live with it.

I don't think I fall in the confines of the "banned" type posters.
I hope.

Why don't you text your homer buddy, and tell each other how great TB is, and how they never make mistakes.?

FYI nobody posted anything like that. So while I hear what you are saying and agree in many ways some of the problem here is that there is a huge strawman in the room. This strawman is creating an illusion that there are some "super homers" here who post nonsense only. Consequently this stramwan is also saying there are posters who are being chastised for criticizing the team.

There was plenty of shade directed at the team today at it was 100% justified. Plenty of these posters got their point across by pointing out issues/problems and none of them were attacked or are complaining that they were attacked.

What this all boils down to is that there are a few posters here that are all about just being annoying. It is not about these posters coming into the GDT and giving an opinion. What it is about is that this small contingent of posters has a solid track record of continually doing it - getting under peoples skin and creating a thread which ends up a circus. The post history is there so there is no real debate on these posters motives or tactics.

But the bottom line is that these posters, who seem to like the chaos they are creating are again winning, because the debates about the same subject (and there stupidity) is spilling out into other threads.

3-4 irritating posters shouldnt be creating this much negative energy here.
