Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Bills!!!!

I hope Mike Tomlin and the rest of the competition committee takes a serious look at the catch rule this off season.

Maybe it should change to the following:

1. Two feet in bounds at anytime during the catch. Before or after the player secures the ball.
2. Survive the ground = having contact with the ball at all times whether it hits the ground and moves or not. If a player's hand is touching the ball throughout the process it's a catch.

Those two changes would solve both of the recent overturned TD calls.

BUT

Every scrotum scratching fan will go full ape **** when:

1. A Patriots receiver toe taps the sideline, dives and catches a pass five yards OOB. "Complete......first down.."

2. Gronks TD's per season doubles and Harmon's INT's triple.

With the above rule change we could get a classic referee call after the review.

"The player dribbled the ball " "Incomplete"
This should be simplified to "Both feet in bounds when ball is snapped."

Only way to eliminate subjective judgements about timing relative to catch.

I think what happened with Rome and Nance is that they saw the pellets puff up from the plant leg and assumed it was coming from the rising leg.
You could see the pellets kicked up by the toe drag for a moment stop when the toe came off the ground, then the chalk kicked up when the toe came down again out of bounds. They chose to believe possession was established before the toe came up. Their bad.

The Patriots, once again, are 12-3, hold the #1 seed, the QB is most likely MVP, and they are the Vegas favorite to win the Super Bowl

Right?

And you are blaming the “homers” for the acrimony?

You may want to take a look at the crybaby ***** whiners who have been *****ing and crying endlessly for 18 years. People might be sick of that.

My point is that neither should be acceptable. Not sure why you act like its more acceptable just because they are being negative towards other members rather than the team. Letting some members go around calling other members idiots and morons and pu**ies or "crybaby ***** whiners" does nothing but bring this forum down further than any trolls could because they aren't insulting trolls but other members for not agreeing and its not staying in the GDT its spilling out into other threads now.

Honestly with some of the comments I see if an opposing fan came here talking to members like some posters on this board do they wouldn't last a day yet its allowed to continue with certain people. You can oppose others and opinions without being nasty about it.

Look at this ******** headlin
Nantz's a pats hater. I hate when he does the games. More romo and less of him.

e
I really liked Romo's commentary the first couple on his first couple of Pats games, but I think he's been told to dial it back on his positive comments about Brady and the Pats and to focus on whatever team they're playing. Noticed it especially today. Maybe it's just my imagination though.

This is so dumb- it's not like the Pats eked out a 4 point win as a result of that call-there was 2 more quarters for the Jill's to score- ....they were beaten by 21 pts. Bills are an embarrassment.
Easier to whine than to hold yourself accountable.

I tend to agree. We could do without that kind of thing but at the same time, it adds a fire to the forum that I kind of enjoy in a black way. Some guys here love that stuff and will get called nimrods or whatever and they pick up steam and make come backs kind of like verbal boxing or something lol.its a football forum and is hard hitting at times. So, while I agree, I’m afraid that too many rules will make everything sanitized and boring

Which is what is happening to the point where the full blown homers are allowed to insult, name call, and disparage anyone they want with impunity for not agreeing with them and nothing is done.

Neither should be happening but one is allowed to continue week after week with no consequence. Its starting to spread outside the GDT and making the forum a less pleasant place to be than is used to be.

Haven’t seen many homer posts in the gameday thread but then again some clowns call you a homer if you explain to them that Gilmore actually didnt have a bad game given his assignment and the nature of completions he gave up.

So please give me your definition of what a homer is in your eyes.

Your argument should not be dismissed and I think Ross responded and explained his position adequately but damn the "censorship" line is a tough one to gauge.

In the end you want the majority of the participants to enjoy the thread but not at the expense of turning it into full bore homervision.

GDTs aren't heavy analysis threads. They are reaction threads, based upon how a game is playing out, and people have been complaining about them since at least as far back as 2006. It should be expected that you're going to get a lot of "What the hell was that? They suck!" reactions, just as you're going to get plenty of "Yes! TB = GOAT!" reactions. Some people will take that too far, but this group is a bunch of pikers compared to the days of he who shall not be named.

I agree with you, which is why someone saying “what the hell was that? They suck!” did not get anyone removed. On the other hand, saying the equivalent of that at least once or twice per page of the thread, or just outright regularly proclaiming the team a “disgrace”, or repetitive attempts at trolling, caused removals. A couple people were removed and were re-admitted without any further issue. Of the 3 who ultimately remained permanently removed, only 1 asked to be let back in and was denied because the conversation did not seem like it would bear any fruit. So, I do not believe that we were heavily censoring the thread by any means.

I'm a big fan of unmoderated sandboxes as solutions for things like this. But I think Ian wants to keep this place PG-13, so I get why there isn't a mod-free playground thread along side the official GDT.

You are just talking to a brick wall on this subject with him.. He is someone that is completely fine with blatant doom-and-gloom trolling but has a problem with people being blind homers....

Anyone watching that game would have been perfectly justified in screaming about a "disgrace" in post after post for about the first half of the game. That would just have meant that they were watching the game. It would have been more appropriate to kick out the people who weren't saying it.

Anyone who thinks the team is a disgrace because they remained within one score or tied with the Bills for a half of football doesn’t need to partake in the gameday thread; that’s my take. We are ultimately fans here - you can be upset with the team’s performance but to say they’re a disgrace repeatedly is several steps beyond.
