Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Bears

Immediately after the game I felt like we lost the game, and I am still angry at many things they did today. So many technical and mental mistakes that are not typical for NE. This team has many holes, and those types of lapses won't cut it.

But at the end of the day, we made more plays than them and deservedly won. And beside that, al three remaining AFC East teams lost. So it was a fantastic day.

The defense won't improve too much. It is what it is. We have to accept that, but we can't accept those unforced errors the team made. That can and has to be fixed.

P.S. Hoping Michel's season isn't over. It didn't look good.

We are on to Buffalo.

We have such a dynamic offense. No gronk or michel and they still lit up the vaunted bears defense. Gronk and Edelman we all know are studs. White I believe is now a stud, legit go to guy and getting better as a runner too. Michel and Gordon are approaching that territory too now. Speaking of which, praying michel can come back at some point. Its still early and before the bye so if its not season ending thatd be huge.

Our defense has a long way to go but they didn’t do as bad today as people are acting. 2 td drives started pretty deep in our territory, 2 near midfield. When the bears actually had to drive the full field they scored 3 points all day. The refs also screwed them on the 2nd td and 2 guys dropped picks that each would’ve prevented tds so the score really should’ve been alot lower. It needs to improve but im not hitting the panic button yet. Weve got to take better care of the ball and just start booming our kickoffs through the end zone.

St made 3 great plays, but still thanks to penalties set up Chicago with good field position on 2 drives that had no business starting around the 40. Still a long way to go there. Patterson definitely has value if he can get opportunities. In those tight playoff games all it takes is one big return to really impact the outcome.

I hate scrambling QBs
too random.
Like this:
This would have never happened if Clayborn hadn't been so trigger-happy. All he had to do was play contain and then the incoming Flowers would've either gotten the sack or forced Trubisky to throw it away. Instead he dives at Trubisky, whiffs and opens up that huge field of green for Trubisky to run wild in.

The addition of Gordon is huge. Just wondering a bit about his big 50-yard gain where he looked like he was going slow. Was it fatigue, or his hamstring? Don't know, but I expected him to score after he broke away from the two tacklers after the catch. But it worked out well in the end. The Pats still scored and took more time off the clock.

Yeah. He ran out of gas. haha

Bears 21 points off turnovers.
mistakes, stupid penalties
2 EZ Int drops on D, bad whoops Int on O

Will give BB some things to discuss.
Heh

Like this:

This entire play is not even random but totally on Clayborn not containing. There is nowhere the QB can go and it is not like sacking him there would take the Bears out of FG range. This is just very bad decision making.

And it was not the only time he lost contain today.

Actually it is your take that is awful in terms of focus, effort, and energy . and you didn't even spend close to 50 min on the field..

Its useless but anyway - when you're 14 points up 6 min to the end you're playing the clock..

Why do folks have to be such tools when a dissenting opinion is offered? Is it because they feel threatened when someone disagrees with their opinion? I don't get it; there's no need to take things so personally.

I simply disagreed with you in as respectful and impersonal a way as possible and then you say the above, completely unprovoked.

We can have a respectful discussion and disagree with the content of our discussion without resorting to senseless, confrontational ad hominems and irrelevant, snarky quips.

What I hated the most were those two early celebration before crossing the goal line. Van Noy barely made it and hung the ball wide open. Horseshxt play.

Patterson especially will get ripped into for his stupid celebration on the kickoff return.

I really hate this crappy defense.

A win is a win but still not impressed with the defense at all. Trubisky isn't good but the pats made him look that way. At the end of the day this isn't a championship defense.

Offense will be okay but with Michelle done for the year they don't have a whole lot options left at running back.

Clearly you hadn't watched any Bears games up to this point so how would you know if Trubisky isn't good?

The defense is better than you are giving them credit for. You're ignoring that the Offense turned the ball over twice and Special Teams once. That led to 2 short fields and points for the Bears.

Can the defense do better? Sure. And they will in time. You have new pieces there in JMac, JC Jackson, Crossen, Clayborn. You also have Jones and Hightower who are coming back from injuries. ACLs are still 18 months to being fully healed and despite that, Jones looks to be at about 90%. Hightower has never been a burner. He's always been about technique and being in front of the runner to make the play.

Does this team need a LB with more speed? Yes. they do. Sam and Bently are both 4.75 guys. But they need someone in the 4.6 range IMHO, who can truly cover the backs and TEs. They aren't finding that available in trade because there isn't one there. So they'll have to do their best with Chung, DMac, etc the rest of the season and hope for no more injuries.

Not pretty but I'll take that. Losing Michel just sucks.

Stop and high five your teammate? After you fumbled by running into your teammate?

Well that's one game rewatch threat I'm going to be keeping an eye out for, should be epic.

The thing is I am not even sure what to look at. We can obviously have a pitchfork session and rip apart all the individual whiffs but there really is not much to learn or understand there.
