Patriots Player Departure Polk traded to Saints

Lmao Wolf is the worst.

wtf, can we go trade for a impact WR.
Or some O line help.

Let this sink in.

Polk, Baker, Harry, Strange, all gone.

And Stevenson maybe on the block at some point this season.

Insane.
With Henderson, we don’t need to carry both Rham and Gibson. I’d be calling Washington right now to gauge interest in either since they lost Ekeler.

Ekeler is out for the year so the Redskins may be looking for a RB but I doubt the Pats will let him go for cheap if Washington doesn’t find a good replacement.

He wasn't in charge of the 2025 draft.

I saw the comparison to Office Space earlier...it's not a terrible analogy about how it is right now.
Vrabel can't be in charge of it all. Is it Groh?

If Maye doesn’t become a Franchise QB and Nix Penix and McCarthy have better careers my god.
The problem is the lack of help for Maye. The whole Polk draft move was a disaster. When they traded down from 34 to 37, and the Chargers took McConkey at 34, you KNEW that was a HUGE mistake by Wolf. I didn’t think it would be THIS disastrous, but I knew not doing the obvious (taking McConkey) was a HUGE mistake.

And then in the 2025 draft, not taking more than 1 receiver, and ZERO TE’s in a deep TE draft, was upsetting. And taking Kyle Williams, well it’s too early to tell, but I can tell you Isaac TeSlaa had one catch, like Williams, but it was a TD catch, the only TD pass by Goff last week. He’s 6’4” 215, and nearly as fast as Williams. And I question if Williams will be better than Jaylin Noel, drafted after Williams as well.

The Patriots are a basement dwelling team due to continued horrific drafting. When does it end? Why are Wolf and Groh still employed? Squid nepo babies.
Their continued employment is Vrabels decision. And imo they had a good draft this past April.

Truly awful pick that many called in real time. I badly wanted Ladd…but I’m also a GA fan and watched a lot more of him than most.

Polk was NEVER a guy who got open easily. He was schemed open and also had Odunze and Mcmillan drawing coverage.

I’ve said it recently, and been crucified but Wolf should not be picking groceries. He had what truly may be the worst single draft in NFL history last year AND a terrible free agency by re-signing dudes he shouldn’t have.

In fairness, Vrabel’s track record isn’t fabulous either from TN and I’m not sure this year’s FA are anything special.

I believe we need a truly elite GM.

Issue is, how can you now do that after hiring Vrabes without alienating him?

Kraft has made SO MANY missteps that everyone is playing catch up.

I DO think we have the right HC.

I DON’T think our personnel team is particularly great…including Vrabes.

As long as they got most or all the money off the books i'm good with it. I think this is a great deal for the Pats. Polk was never going to make it here. It just wasn't working.

As for the Saints? I think it is a good deal for them too honestly. They give up very little draft wise to take a shot. All it cost them is money. Why not take a shot, maybe a change of scene and coaching helps him become something. Even if all he becomes is a #5 option who learns to play some special teams, this is an okay deal for them.

I will say…why are people pointing to his cap hit? It was meaningless.

Like $2MM I think.

Save us from the curse of recommendations by people affiliated with players.

If maye busts out this will be the biggest epic draft failure class of all time .

If we don't have a winning record this season, my guess is wolf gets fired .

Last season's personnel moves are proving to be a disaster. Maye is the only player from last year's class who played week one and one of only 2 players from the class on the active roster.

Nix and Daniels have already passed Maye by.

McCarthy will have tough days ahead, but his debut was legendary.
Ridiculous take. All three of those quarterbacks have a better team and roster than the Patriots. I’ll also add, far better coaching on all three last year as well.
And third, his debut was far from legendary.

Legendary, no, but infamous, yes.

We only get a pick swap for a 6th round pick while giving up a 7th. What a disastrous waste of a 2nd. And think about it if we just stay put we could have had Mcconkey.

Our WR scouting department feels SUS. I’m surprised we didn’t overhaul it entirely when Vrabel took over.
