Polk instead Kingsley Suamataia?

Osborn and Thornton were starting early this season. They couldn’t pass earlier and certainly couldn’t pass deep, the dynamic has changed. Play them now.
To me, everything as far as evaluations go, should go back to square one. Put all the receivers back into the rotation for a few games and see what they can do with a QB who is willing to throw the ball and try and make plays. Douglas has been in hiding for a month and all of a sudden goes off in his first game with Maye. Let the vets get the benefit of the doubt.

Why doesn’t this apply to the 2nd round offensive tackles playing a much tougher position that were skewered here earlier?

IDK, tackles seem to make a more immediate impact than WRs. But I am not judging any player six games into their NFL career.

They have other WR’s, I don’t understand how Polk earned maximum snaps beyond his second round draft pedigree. Play the vets instead.
Other than Pop they are all average at best. We've run through them all that we finally circled back to Boutte. Polk at least flashed a little even if we was out of bounds for most of his flashes.

Right now I'd roll with Pop, Boutte, and still Polk. I'd play the 2 TEs as much as I can. And we really need Dre back to help take the workload off Maye.

Eight WRs were off the board before the Pats' pick - they tried to trade up and got stiffed, as the Bills handed the Chiefs Worthy. They traded down and would up with both (after 2 more WRs were gone) Polk and Baker. Again, whoever they picked even at 34 would have been the 9th WR off the board.

Or the 8th OT - seven were gone in the first round.

So, unless you want to argue that they should have traded out of 3, you're arguing that the 8th WR or 7th OT should be making a huge difference here.

The Pats had the great misfortune this year of having NEEDS at the three most coveted positions in football.

If Maye if the guy, then let's go.

They've got money and will have a high pick next year. Learn what works and what doesn't. If health can finally solidify on the OL, I'd like to see Lowe-Sow-Strange-Onwenu-Wallace.

And at WR, as I said, Douglas, Boutte, Polk, Baker.

If they have a top 3 pick next year, maybe they can fill two holes with blue chip talent. They have money. There will be no excuse for not spending like drunken sailors in FA next year. If they don't, I throw up my hands in surrender. They will be the Red Sox.

My original plan would have been to draft Maye like we did the trade up as far as we could for the best possible tackle we could get. but When round 1 ended and I realized the tackles and WRs had been picked dry I wanted to switch to defense. Instead we were stubborn and still went WR and LT.

Agree with you mostly but with a slight modification. Would want brown to be the center after his superhuman effort last game. Who knows we might have struck udfa gold again.

Lowe - sow - brown - onwenu - strange.

I want strange to be our right tackle and I believe he might come good dealing with just external pressure as onwenu should be able to handle inside bull rush on his own. If strange can show off the athleticism then the 4 man rush will not work with us and we can easily do the screens or pass block with RB if defender comes off left edge.

Jordan should be the swing guard and Jacobs the swing tackle and someone else the center. Wallace and Robinson are middling fits for now.

I am thinking we might be turning the corner.

I don't think Tackle is on the table for Strange. Sounds like they are trying him at center and if that doesn't work out I'd assume he goes back to guard even as a backup.

His measurables are great for a tackle. Why try him at center which requires a stouter build and better force at center of gravity. Anyways I am a football novice. So will take whatever experts say

Supposedly he has the versatility for Tackle, guard, or Center. I'm just going off the fact Mayo said they will %100 be trying him at center. He obviously can play guard. I think asking him also to get ready to play tackle would be asking a lot. Until I hear anything to suggest they are trying him at tackle I'm going to assume he stays at guard and center even if it's as the primary backup because Brown hangs on as the starter.

Suamataia only trails Polk by 13 receiving yards per game. If he fills in for juju next week he may catch him.

If Polk is less than average, if he's dropping passes, then he should be replaced. He's clearly being shoehorned into the starting lineup.

I have to admit, coming in and taking over that quickly was kind of amazing by Brown.

The only WRs on the roster who have more yards than him are:

Douglas, who had 92 yard Sunday, and before that was averaging about 30/game, and Boutte, who had 59 on Sunday, and before that, had a total of 4 receptions for 47 yards in the previous 5 games.

That's it.

Their passing game under JB was going to TEs and RBs. More than half his passes were to backs or TEs.

Polk has to stop dropping the ball and he needs to greatly improve his sideline presence. Not arguing that. The first shocks me, because he had great hands in college, and was reportedly the best hands WR in training camp. It's a small sample size, but no argument here: it's a problem, a big one, that he had to fix. The yips are real (Valdez-Scantling comes screaming to mind).

He's a rookie. He steps up or he enjoys the practice squad.

Strange69 is NOT a Right Tackle.

When you’re replacing the Worst starting Center in the NFL, you’re bound to look fantastic by comparison.

EDIT: posted this before seeing archstanton’s comment; sorry didn’t mean to pile-on…

You're not wrong, but still, he came out of nowhere and manage a pretty decent game with a QB in his first start (was Onwenu setting the line assignments?).

And I am by no means saying he's going to be good, just that Sunday surprised me.

Boutte has played less than half as many snaps. The only guy worse per snap is Osborne.
Even if he caught the 2 passes he dropped it’s what, 3 for 25?
Brissett didn’t play yesterday, and Polk was worse. How many excuse will you cycle through before you acknowledge a player is accountable for having the worst production in 50 years.

K Boutte is on the radar now AJ they can't game plan without him now he's has a 90% catch rate based on targets.
