Are my eyes playing tricks with me, or is rookie second round draft pick Kingsley Suamataia starting at Left Tackle for the Chiefs???? The Patriots could have taken him in round but took a possession WR in Polk instead. What was Patriots HQ thinking? Didn't they see the need for a LT? I can see where the Patriots might have chosen Polk over Adonai Mitchell, but it seems like a major whiff to pass on Suamataia. Not only did the Chiefs get Suamataia, but they also got the speedster Worthy. The rich get richer and the Patriots make pathetic personnel decisions.

After we took Maye they were then picking ahead of us at the end of each Rd vs ours at the beginning of the next. But should have just traded up into the back of the 2nd Rd and got both.

Gonna also have to watch Paul on Mia too.

To get back into the 2nd round, they would have had to trade their next three picks at the very least. That would mean they wouldn’t pick again until the 6th round. Mid round picks are essential for roster building.

Polk will have to be a star for this to not have been a bad pick. Suamataia and Paul have all the characteristics of stud tackles.

If we settled the Judon stuff before the draft then we could easily have afforded it. Even still those middle picks aren't as important as a starting LT.

I wanted kingsley too but tbh this doesnt mean a ton yet. The chiefs starting LT from last year i believe hasn’t even been signed by anyone this year so it doesn’t necessarily mean the guy is any good. It will be a while before you can fully evaluate the polk / sumaiatai/ cadean wallace picks.

It probably would've only taken a 4 or a 5 (the NYJ did it for a 5). But they would've also needed to find a willing partner.

Who cares if you're a "homer"? Homer is just an insult other sports media people use on other sports media people. If you're a fan of the team, you're expected to be one. In fact, if you aren't, you're not a fan of the team, by definition.
I am a fan. Fans buy tickets and merchandise, which creates expectations.

Let's ignore the fact that we don't know which OT we would have taken. There were 3 taken before Suamataia in the 2nd,.

No, no. I was saying that instead of picking Polk, the Patriots should have taken Suamataiaa. It would be insane to take Polk and then try to trade back up into the second to get Suamatai I guess the draftniks would be screaming "Reach", but as it seems now, it would have been a much better pick. Polk is just another possession receiver, and would have been a fine fourth round selection, but Suamataia at LT was a glaring need and a huge whiff by the Patriots "Braintrust". It was as if the Kraft were telling Wolf that we HAVE to take a WR, any WR in round two.

I only watched the first half but Suamataia had a good game.

Yeah, we do not know how it is going to shake out and maybe one of them is better that Suamataia, but Slow Polk was a mistake; one of those LTs should have been taken and Suamataia would have been a solid, if unspectacular, pick. Adonai Mitchell would have been the spectacular pick, but risky as hell considering the need at LT; draftniks would have loved the pick, but....

The only possible defense for the way this year's draft was handled would be to assert that it would not have been possible to address both the QB/WR issues and the O-line in the same draft year. This is a phony argument. While this is indeed at least a two year rebuild, that does not justify the utter negligence, both in drafting and in other ways of acquiring players, we have seen in the job of rebuilding the O-line. The first result is that we are prevented from seeing fully to the development of the QB we drafted because of the dismal state of the O-line. We are left with a quarterback whom we dare not play and still with a WR room peopled with mediocrities, still very near the bottom of the league.

The conclusion here is obvious: to this point the new GM (or whatever the f Bunboy's title is) has proven incompetent, and the Kraft's decision to fill leading roles in the organization, from HC on down, with newbies and amateurs was likely a grave miscalculation.
