SignbabyScarSince we're seemingly going off the deep end today, doesn't Dante Scarnecchia have any kids or grandkids that could take over coaching the O-Line? That would be amazing.

BOB just honored his deal with Bama when he probably could have come here. But if the right NFL HC opened up I assume he'd jump on it. If Mac were to really turn it around I could see that putting BOB on the top of the candidate list. So this is probably not as slam dunk as it may seem but at the end of the day if he's the best candidate I don't think you can afford to go elsewhere out of fear of him leaving. And I'm not sure what other options there are better than him.Why are you saying only one season? Again, the idea is BOB is OC 'til Bill breaks the record then becomes HC. I'd assume that would take two or three years.
You apparently don't understand what the circumstances will be. A team is only bringing in Brady to put them over the top. So Brady would have to suck on the level of Matt Ryan, and the team would need a decidedly losing record, for Brady to find himself on the sideline in favor of a young backup quarterback. And under those circumstances it will mark the end of Brady's career. So Brady knows as soon as his skills decline enough, he's done. Whoever's next in line doesn't matter.Nonsense. Brady’s smart enough to know no NFL team plays anybody, even a star QB, who is playing like crap today just because they were good last year. He knows as soon as his skills decline enough for that kid to be a better bet to win games TB12 will be a backup. He’s not going to do anything to make that happen sooner than it inevitably will anyway.
His track record is winning a rather brutal power struggle in houston vs the GM and getting to buy the groceries ... and not being a very good shopper. Doesn't seem like he'd be content to just be an OC. But maybe he's changed. Why would one suspect that his goal is to be a NFL HC as soon as possible, instead of his goal being to be an NFL HC with the best prospects of long term success and stability? For that matter, would immediately being HC of a doormat be more attractive than winning a Super Bowl as OC?
Other thing is that the other two suitors mentioned only offer a quick path to HC by spending a year there and then moving. Or hoping your boss gets fired. How is that different or better than spending a year as Pats’ OC and then moving?
And does BB really know BoB wants to beHC sooner rather than later? That was your assumption. Maybe BB knows otherwise?
lots of speculation piled upon speculation…
Agree. Word is Tom makes Kyle Trask wear his jock strap around his head after practice. You're suggesting the leopard is going to change his spots at his age? The man who might be the most competitive guy to play the game, witness the fact he's still playing at 45 years old, suddenly is going to be a mentor to some young college age kid, who no doubt will be full of himself? You're projecting. No way he mentors anyone. No way in hell. Too competitive. He's never done it before now, and if he does it now, he's knows for sure that he's mentoring his replacement.
Jimmy G is a good starting spot, sure. You can gloss it over however nicely you want. He ran the dude out of town. Jimmy was a threat and Tom ended that threat. Killed it.
At this point we should even consider Scar's dog. He can help Nike find a T in the draft.Since we're seemingly going off the deep end today, doesn't Dante Scarnecchia have any kids or grandkids that could take over coaching the O-Line? That would be amazing.
Man you exaggerate his lack of arm strength. It's more than adequate .QBs don't need to be Josh Allen to be successfulHow is Bill Obrien going to fix Mac Jones weakling throwing arm and terrible decision making?
The NFL game is so fluid and fast with conditions changing in a microsecond. Either your QB possesses the skills necessary to excel at the NFL level vs the elite teams or he doesnt.
In 2018, BOB had the 11 ranked offense and 4th ranked defense. Deshaun Watson at QB and Deondre Hopkins. 11 - 5 record losing in the wildcard game to Andrew Luck HOU 7 - 21 INDY. One and done.
2019 post season, up 24 - 0 vs KC and lost 51 - 31. People here act like BOB is some kind of messiah
He would. The question is do they want himWhy wouldn't BoB go after any one of the HC openings (CAR, DEN, etc.) now instead of waiting?
Love the sarcasmI'm concerned other teams may poach our offensive coaches again.

If Jones arm is what you say it is then why not give him the ball at the end of the Raiders game?Man you exaggerate his lack of arm strength. It's more than adequate .QBs don't need to be Josh Allen to be successful
For a rookie his decision -making was fine. Good coaching helps in that regard.
Neither of those teams will win the SB with the current roster if Brady goes there. The only team that fits the bill for Brady is San Francisco...they are stacked enough that all Brady has to do is be the bus driver.
So you do expect the leopard to change his spots. There's no competition at this point in Brady's career. This isn't 2016 anymore with Brady nowhere near the end of his career. Yeah at that stage of it he was singularly focused on being the only quarterback on the roster who mattered. Everyone including Brady himself knows he's only got 1 or 2 seasons left now. So he's not mentoring his replacement, like someone who's potentially taking snaps away from him, he's mentoring the next guy after he retires. I'm not saying he'll make it a priority but he's not going to feel threatened by a young quarterback at this stage.
The variables might be location and ownership status. Why wouldn't BoB go after any one of the HC openings (CAR, DEN, etc.) now instead of waiting?
Mechanics and core strength will change the weak arm. He'll never be Josh Allen but improved core and lower body can help him develop the torque to see improvement. Decision making is all about coaching. How is Bill Obrien going to fix Mac Jones weakling throwing arm and terrible decision making?
Not happening.. even with Garoppolo gone. You have Trey Lance in the wings.. can't cut him. Purdy is holding his own pretty well. They've won 8 in a row.
I don't see how you mess with that for a very short term solution.. even if they blow it in the SB.
Purdy looks really good, to the point that it’s embarrassing he fell to the 7th round. If Purdy flames out early in the playoffs and they deem Lance not ready, they can easily turn to Brady....it all depends on their evaluation of Purdy. If they feel like he's the real deal, then no. If they think he's overachieving, then yes.
I would think he'd be here for at least two seasons, and it's a situation where he'd get credit if the Patriots suddenly started having success on offense. I doubt he'd be here much beyond that, unless there was a chance he'd have an opportunity to be a head coach. The goal - I would think - from there would also be to have him groom someone so they'd have some continuity if he ended up leaving.
