If I had any faith that whomever is manning the CB2 role could be consistent, I'd say slide Gilmore on JuJu when in man and put the other outside corner (McCourty/Jackson) on Brown with safety help. While I think we'll give them those looks at time, doing it the entire game when in man would be inviting trouble.

I would mostly double both JuJu and AB Pitts 3rd and 4th options have been below average.

I think we can slow down their WR. It's the TE that worry me. McDonald and James can do damage

I am sure BB and Flores can live the TE's gashing them if it comes to that. But that's better than Big Ben playing catch with JuJu and AB.

We can have the world's greatest gameplan when it comes to JuJu and Brown, and our guys can play their ass off and execute it to perfection. None of that will matter if we're getting gashed on the ground and every 3rd down is 3rd and short. Even if Conner doesn't go, we got beat by Branden Bolden on Sunday, it's not about the back, it's about the attitude of the big uglies up front. They've got to play better than they have. I think they can, they have the potential, but that needs to be a priority this week (and from Flores' comments, it seems to be).

We're 8th in yards per pass attempt allowed (probably would be better without the gaff at the end of the Miami game), 10th in QB Rating against, and tied for 5th in INT's. The pass defense is NOT BAD. But the best pass defense in the world isn't going to stop 3rd and 2 consistently, it's just too big an advantage for the offense. We need to do a better job on 1st/2nd down, especially against the run.

I'd be very surprised if that's true. Do you have a source?

I don't myself, but when the team goes something like 12-4 or 14-2 nearly every year, there's rarely back to back losses ever.

During a recent-ish Lions game, the announcers said it was Matt Patricia's first time ever experiencing three losses in a row in the NFL IIRC.

Pats did lose two road games in a row this year, so 2-road-games is tough applies now it seems.

Hopefully Bill will put Gronk in at safety again, direct Ghost to kick short every time, go for it on 4th and 2, abandon the run the moment it starts producing and having CP fall down a lot more like in the beginning of the season.

Ben is a great QB. Without a doubt he is a 1st ballot HOFer.

Put BB at the helm of the Steelers over the Tomlin years and I guarantee that Ben would have more than 1 ring. Tomlin has wasted Bens best years and to me, it was inexcusable to not have the team prepared for Jax last post season. Minority owners called for Tomlins dismissal, but Haley took the rap instead. Im not the greatest Haley fan, but I thought that He and Ben had chemistry and that Haley would not kiss Bens *** when Ben did not play to his potential. Thats a good thing IMO to not have a Yes Man like the character who is OC now.

Its going to be lest guy with the ball hard fought game. Neither teams defense is anything great.

He is not a “without a doubt” first ballot hall HOFer. He will definitely get in, but he’s the ideal player who would not get in on the first ballot, which is reserved for all-time greats. He’s never been in the MVP discussion or even all-pro discussion despite having arguably the most consistent arsenal of talented weapons around his entire career. He’s generally not liked for reasons he consistently draws upon himself. He is inconsistent. He’s a terrible leader who blames everyone else publicly. He’s the biggest injury drama queen the league has ever seen.

His numbers and rings will, and should, get him in. But since Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and perhaps Wilson are guys who have undoubtedly better, and others aren’t far behind, that’s not first ballot territory.

Put BB at the helm of the Steelers and his first move is to trade Ben for a disciplined, intelligent quarterback who studies a lot, isn’t out partying/assualting women/ stalking outside Stormy Daniels door / refusing to pay his tab every night, gets rid of the ball quickly, is a consummate teammate, isn’t a drama queen, and has proven he can excel without two pro bowl receivers.

It’s well documented that Ben got Haley fired. This doesn’t go against your story. But it adds additional context. Ben couldn’t handle a guy who wouldn’t be him be the egomaniac turd be typically is.

Ben’s talent is undeniable. He’s deserving of Canton. He’s also a tremendous douche on many levels and probably Belichick’s absolute worst fit at QB.

Go check some Reddit threads for more stories backing up what I’ve said, it isn’t hard to find them. Ben is incredibly disliked by many people in Pittsburgh, as well as a plethora of people in the organization, and the numerous diva/jackass stories about him are just mind boggling. He’s not the somewhat likable guy you see on camera. There is no way in the world Belichick would coach him.

It's interesting. We've all been disappointed with the lack of impact that Shelton has had (I think even the people who didn't like the pickup thought he would do more than he has). The run defense has also been a problem, at least in consistency, for the whole season. But the two games Shelton was a healthy scratch, the opponents have averaged 7.3 and 9 yards per carry. The only reason it didn't feel that bad against Minnesota is they only ran 13 times.

For as disappointing as he's seemed (and clearly the coaches see something that makes them agree), the run defense has been HORRID in his absence. Maybe correlation more than causation, but interesting to me nonetheless.

While I agree with you, I just don't think the front is capable. It needs to be completely re-tooled in the offseason. The team could realistically stand to replace every DT on the roster.

While I do think JJ and AB should be our main focus

Im suddenly worried about their Running game...

They don't rely on a great backer doing magic like Bell anymore, who we were always able to hold on... While I haven't seen a lot of them, this is 2 things i noticed:

Now it seems that their style is more zone-scheming to open running lanes for Connor, including a lot more wham runs... This was giving us A LOT of trouble against Miami and, to me, they have a better unit than them

their o-line is mobile, to a degree... And our Front seven is already lacking is athleticism

I hope we conjure a good plan on the trenches, cause I think it will lowkey decide the game
