Big-time speculation here....

My money is that the Pats pushed the envelope and asked for full-reinstatement meaning that jas and McNally are Patriots employees and they can tell them do whatever they want- including handle footballs. The NFL was like 'wah' ?and the Krafts said that they NEVER accepted the Wells Report, you have no proof that they deflate footballs and the IGL proove that the balls were never deflated.

Maybe Vincent is trying to look like hes covering all the bases?

Ok, so:

- Kraft and Belichick were cleared by the Wells Report.

- Jastremski and McNally were cleared by the NFL.

- The NFL's punishment of Brady was vacated, and they cannot seek redress there (save for the appeal that will never be filed).

What we have, according to the NFL, is that it was "more probable than not" that Tom Brady was "generally aware" of conduct that not a single member of the Patriots organization was deemed to be worth discipline - according to the NFL.

So, either Tom Brady was deflating footballs all by himself, or absolutely nothing happened. This is per the Wells Report and also Troy Vincent of the NFL, and is their now-official position.

My fear is that he and NFL GC is going to go in there and ask that these guys to corroborate and agree with the findings of the Wells Report. If they do, they will reinstate them. If they don't, he'll let them dangle some more.

That's some damn good foresight on their part to presume the Pats would suspend the two without a request from the league office to do so, don't you all think? Wow, I hate this league.

And, as the NFL claims that these guys were part of a scheme to cheat, why would there ever be the condition that they would be reinstated? I think that putting that line in the discipline letter was simply an attempt to hedge their bets but in reality it shows that they were uncertain how this would all play out.

I can understand the league sending someone to discuss or gain additional clarity about what Jaz and McNally's role will be upon reinstatement. I get that.

All due respect to these guys but they are low-level employees. In this exercise the NFL is sending a SVP to talk to them? Are they for real? Only reason IMO they do this is b/c the Kraft's are maneuvering on something.

Clarification: The NFL has not formally exonerated Brady, Jas or McNally. In their estimation, they are guilty.

The question is, if the court found the NFL's process to determine guilt to be faulty, and the NFL has stated that Brady directed Jas and McNally, are we then allowed to assume that Jas and McNally also are not guilty?

I hope you are wrong. I don't see what reason they would have. Vincent's letter was specific to what they would not be allowed to do after reinstatement. So the letter itself implies reinstatement is possible. Like you I don't trust the NFL but I think they would look worse by not reinstating them (being vindictive, sore losers, picking on the little guy, etc.).

But how can the NFL reinstate them when they are standing by the Well's report and Goodell's claim that there was an active conspiracy to cheat? If the NFL let's them be reinstated then they are saying that we are allowing known cheaters back in the game or maybe worse is admitting they have nothing against them in the first place.

The NFL could reinstate them under the condition they can have nothing to do with gameday balls. Heck, that's the position the NFL has to take because it backed itself into that corner by saying (in Vincent's letter) that if they were to be reinstated it would have to be to positions that have nothing to do with ball handling and preparation.

McNally is a store manager of a home goods store or something to that effect in NH. He isn't wealthy but owns a home and provides for his family. He works Sundays because he is a fanboy likes the rest of us and has been there for 20 years or so. If I had the time I'd kill for his job.

Jas is a full time employee of the team's. I'm not sure but I heard that the Krafts were taking care of him during his absence.

Brady, yes, they have not - however, the two remaining options are, "Brady did everything all by himself" or "Nothing Happened".

Well, the NFL will say that they already have been disciplined. They are still sticking by that stupid report.

Couple of things to note about your perception of this issue:

1) The NFL has already filed their appeal, which was done immediately after the suspension was vacated. To claim that it "will never be filed" isn't true, because they wasted no time in doing so.

2) McNally and Jastremski were definitely NOT cleared by the NFL, who stripped our team of 2 draft picks for their specific actions--right or wrong. Either way, McNally and Jastremski were the main culprits, at least in the mind of the NFL. As we know, they also believe Brady to have been "generally aware" of their actions as well.
