PFT: Patriots, among many other teams, expected to make a waiver claim for Moss

I think some believe (and it's not entirely irrational based on the press conference) that Randy is like the wild horse who can be ridden by only one person. In this case, us.
That wasn't the case after the Cincinnati Bengals game.

Maybe Randy needs to get off the pain meds ... just saying. :confused2:

Yes I did, and I'm wondering how you get "that his attitudes have completely changed 180 degrees in Minnesota and is ready to come back to the Pats a changed player" from that press conference. It seems to me that is just yet another huge example of him putting himself above his team. It's still the same old Randy but now it's OK because he speaking well of the Patriots.

The captains, [Vince] Wilfork, Tommy Boy, Kevin Faulk, I miss them guys. I miss the team. It was hard for me to come here and play, an up-and-down roller coaster for me all week ... I kind of know what type of feeling is in their locker room and I want to be able to tell they guys that I miss the hell out of them, every last helmet in that locker room ... Coach Belichick gave me an opportunity to part of something special and I really take to heart and I salute Coach Belichick and the Patriots for the success they had before me, during me and after me. I'm actually stuck for words.

I don’t know how many more times I’m going to be up here in New England, but I’m going to leave the New England Patriots and Coach Belichick with a salute. I love you guys, I miss you. I’m out.

Does this not sound like someone that genuinely misses being on a team? Why else would he go on such a rant like this if he didnt have a change in attitude?

How long will this attitude last? One week .. two weeks? Sounds like sour grapes to me!

Moss sounds like a man who is mentally and emotionally cracking!

He is frustrated. All the guy wants to do is win, he wants to win a SB before the end of his career.

Ha, no, you're definitely right. I'm talking just specifically based on this last presser. You know, the whole "He now realizes how good he had it here" stuff we're seeing in all the threads.

It would last for the remainder of the time that he spends in NE (if he comes back). He saw what it was like on a team other than the Pats, and I dont think he wants that again.

Moss can cry me a river for all I care. Case history with Belichick and former New England Patriots wide receivers: (1) Terry Glenn deactivated for the remainder of the 2001 NFL season and traded prior to the 2002 NFL Season, (2) Deion Branch (under contract) traded prior to the 2006 NFL Season based upon a contract extension dispute.

Here's the catch, he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings at the time.

Right, but why would he talk about the Patriots and how much he missed being a Patriot? He didnt need to bring the Pats up if all he wanted was just to get out of Minnesota....

Re: PFT: Patriots expected to claim Moss

I'm fuzzy on this but why would we claim him if there is no one after us in line to claim him?
It makes zero sense. If we claim him, we are on the hook for his entire year's salary, evenif we cut him.

If we don't file and sign him, we can cut him without losing anything.

We can also sign him for less money.

So why would the Pats claim him?

16 hours left, has he even left Boston yet? I bet he is just waiting for the anouncment, pull ya 81 jersey out the trash.

Seriously though.. he's not coming back

What did common sense say 4 weeks ago when he was happy to be 'home' in Minnesota?

It said we got rid of him... Look feel free to argue that some how he is going to miraculously pass though waivers and the Pats will just take him back after trading him away just 4 weeks ago. Just my 2 cents... he's not coming back. If by miracle he did, I would be fine with it. I like Randy and have already said this earlier in this thread but would like to have him back. I just don't see any way it happens.

I know that there is speculation about whether the Patriots would take Moss back, partly fueled by his comments after Sunday's game. However, I hope BB and company do not go down that path. Randy is gone partly for his boorish behavior off the field and partly for his diminished performance on the field. Coupled with his demands for another "big" multi-year contract, BB decided that he was simply too much for the young Patriots team.

Yes, Randy well might have learned a good lesson from his four weeks in Minnesota and with retrospect realizes how much he would prefer to still be in New England. However, life goes on and the young Patriots team does not need the distraction or poor example put forth by Moss' prima donna antics.

Further, the team seems to be doing well enough with his absence. Finally, who are we going to cut to add Randy to the 45-man game day rooster? Thanks Randy for you past efforts with the Patriots, but your services are best used elsewhere.
