Pay the money and go to the games

I've really got to say I've got the exact opposite reaction of most of the people here.

It absolutely DISGUSTS me to think that there are fans and players alike who have got such thin skin and have become so politically correct that they are actually trying to tell other fans when they should and shouldn't boo

Back in my day, people who wanted to cheer, cheered... people who wanted to boo, booed.

No one wasted any time giving any thought - let alone telling others how the "right" way to express themselves was - especially when they have a home loss that's so bad it only comes once every ten years.

Perhaps the sheer incongruity of people booing a team that lays an egg once in 22 regular-season games has given pause to objectively examine this nonsensical mode of fan behavior. It's not a matter of political correctness or thin skin/thick skin. It's a matter of ignorance vs. understanding the game and the men who play it.

No - its about understanding that *gasp* if you can't boo the worst loss in the history of Gillette Stadium when WILL the Politically Correct Police say its OK to boo.

Again - tell, me - can I boo the next game if they play as bad? Is there some bizarre "code" about not booing games that come after a winning streak?

How long a winning streak? How many games after a winning streak? Can I boo a big score difference? Can I boo a sloppy play? Can I boo if a player if he gets careless and fumbles the ball.

WTF is with all these people telling other fans when they can and can't boo? WTF happened to the game of football - is this the Pink Hat phenomenon coming to the Patriots?

I couldn't boo my own team. Then again, I would never shout insults at an opposing player either. I just don't feel comfortable acting that way toward anyone. But as for leaving early...I'll say this: I didn't watch the end of the game on tv. Why? Was it because I'm a fairweather fan? A "pink hat"? Not hardly. It's because it just became too painful.

Sometimes watching a team you really care about play badly gets you so upset that it's not healthy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who lay awake all night after the Superbowl feeling physically ill. When I get too worked up during a tense (or disastrous game), I have to turn off the tv.

Is it different for fans in the stadium, who could be seen as disrespecting the players on the field by walking out? Maybe, I guess. In that case it's probably best that I'm not a season ticket holder!

If I was paying $130 for a regular season game ticket that does not include Brady on the field and is not a playoff preview between the two teams then not only do I feel I can boo,I feel I can strip down to my birthday suit and piss on the guy in the seat below mine for the money I spent

P.S. (Don't visualize the scenerio I mentioned and if you do,seek immediate psychiatric help :banned

I also did not watch the end of the game. And like you, it became to painful to watch. I never really understood why people who took time out of there lives to see the team they are fans of leave before the end. As you said, when a team is in its hardest time, that is when the fans need to pick up their cheers and keep a strong motivation for the team.

But again, who knows.

Well in this case I think we're both taking our own interpretations of what a hard core die hard fan should and shouldn't be and applying them here - which is fine.

In my book, as a Patriots fan I've come to expect that they'll always play with heart, and passion, and never give up.

I saw very little energy in that game - very little fight. I don't care about the score as much as that. I'm sure not going to cheer the team when they are playing like that.

That's not good enough. I don't care how many consecutive wins they have, I think good fans - die hard, non-bandwagon fans - don't need to just sit silently and accept it. They can boo if they want to. Heck - you could make a case that they SHOULD boo.

For the record I didn't boo (at my TV) on Sunday - but if they play at that low level, at that low energy again - I fully expect they will be booed again.

For all those internet heroes calling out the fans at Gillette on Sunday you can all GFY.

The Pats played like garbage and deserved the boos. If you don't like it buy a ticket and go to a game.

I'm sure your "support the team, don't boo" stuff will go over well when you are sitting in the stands.
That was a disgrace to boo a team who is missing their qb and just finish having one of the greatest seasons in nfl history, also lots of fans were leaving the stadium like the game was over with the whole 4th qtr remaining against the dolphins.

I keep asking you and can't get a response: what PURPOSE, at ANY time, does booing serve? It heaps a negative onto a negative. The team doesn't need its own fans to levy verbal punishment when the opponent gets an upper hand. This assumption that booing will somehow make a difference in the performance of a professional athletic team -- either at the time or in the future -- is moronic. You can go ahead and boo whatever you misperceive, but this simply indicates your own ignorance and childishness. What you "think" is uninspired play -- lack of passion, or whatever -- just might be a manifestation of the opponent gaining an advantage physically and strategically. Ever consider that possibility? To believe that all the Pats have to do is turn it up a notch and try harder and everything will be OK (therefore we should boo them for not doing so) is just plain stupid.

Nice. You must be one of those a-holes I hear screaming at Bill during preseason games, telling him how to run the team.

oh, and GFY

Maybe some fans were booing the Dolphins, the scoreboard, the situation......but not directly aimed at individual Pats.....sometimes it feels good to do a little booing - makes people feel like they got their money's worth since they didn't have much opportunity to cheer.......BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to this thread........If they really want to reduce booing, they can stop pushing the suds

No - I gave you a response, you just didn't like it.

You just can't seem to understand how the fans saying "Hey - you're New England Patriots - we know you're better than that - no dig deep and perfrom" by showing their displeasure might prompt some members - not all to dig deep and perform.

I gave you a football example - a coach effectively "booing" his player - who responded with 96 passes. Ring a bell?

And as to your assertion that the Patriots were playing to full potential, I defy anyone to try to tell me that the Patriots were playing at full potential on sunday either - Belichick didn't believe that was the case -so let's hope not

Fans that do not actually go to the games have absolutely no right to call out the behavior of the fans that do. I agree with you there.

That logic sucks. You know alot of us don't live in the area, right? Couple that with $200 tickets and most of us can't afford it.

Crazy Massachusetts liberals will boo the Pats for one bad half of football, but will happily pardon convicted criminals. Brilliant.

Is that a Willie Horton reference??????? Wow, good job. (I think I got the name wrong Willie Horton played baseball and I think the criminal who was released then killed again had a different first name?)
