Wasn’t he also a problem in the locker room?
Had he caught the pass, he wasn’t going anywhere. Bethea was going to tackle him. More blame should be on Brady for being absolutely clueless on that play.
Still would have been 2nd and 5 (or less) instead of 2nd and 15. That's a huge difference.

Hey, anyway I can get some credit for bringing this up? Shout out to @robertweathers for suggesting this could be a thread. Thanks for the love @Mountain_Commando and @Clonamery lol.

These picks are from the BB era.

I’m going with Aaron Hernandez. What a waste of talent. Him and Gronk would’ve taken over the NFL. Every time I watch highlights of past Patriots games and see him make plays, it pisses me off.

Honorable mentions:

Ellis Hobbs. He was the biggest tease. He’d have great position on the WR, then find a way to either fall down or not whip his head around. Had some nice kick returns though. Should’ve had like 3 picks in the ‘07 - ‘08 Super Bowl.

Laurence Maroney. Pick a f***ing lane already! He also had horrible vision. There would be wide open holes but he ran into the pile. He was a pile magnet.

Dan Klecko: Really? He was the Luke Walton of the Pats. He had no business being on the team. Or any team.

Jordan Richards. Always looked like he was learning how to ice skate. That look on his mug during the National Anthem when Butler was crying said it all. “They thought Malcolm was bad? I’ll show them how to play bad football!”

Every backup LB in the ‘06-‘07 AFCCG.
I thought Ellis Hobbs was decent, had his moments.

Quarterbacks stare down receivers, Reche was the only receiver to stare right back. Not really sure, of course, what he was always staring at, but it doesn't seem to have been the ball.

McCourty and his awful play and ridiculous contract, then they bring in his twin who is even worse, and yet somehow, he makes the team????

I am truly mystified as to how he made the roster.
Are you suggesting the Russians may have been involved?

I remember watching him at training camp covering man to man. I have never seen a guy stay right on his man through every move, juke, route. I was mesmerized.

On Steve Martin

Wasn’t he also a problem in the locker room?

He was supposed to be our run stopping DT/NT but he actually avoided contact. Our run D was swiss cheese. But, since he hadn't worked up a sweat, he ran over to the reporters after every game so he could get on tv. I agree on this one. Attention seeking bum.

Ocho Stinko and there's no close second. Greater hype to effort ratio than is possible to replicate.

I always liked Ocho because he liked BB and vice-versa. But I knew he wasn't going to make it here when he dropped that gime TD against the Bills which would have given us a last minute victory AND given Brady 3 back to back 400+ yard games.

He was a big reason the Pats ended up losing in Indy in the ‘06 AFCCG.

Sorry about that. This thread is all in humor. It shouldn’t last long.
Not as big a reason as Reche "Bug Eyes" Caldwell...

Marc Wilson. Soooo fitting the Pat's signed him in 1990 where he ended up part of the futile QB rotation. I think there's the Chiefs game from that year on YouTube where you can watch Wilson in all his glory.

Edit: Just looked it up and he was signed in '89. 1-3 in '89 and 0-6 in '90. God, what a transition into the dark years.

Regards,
Chris

I forgot about him. Awful. It was hard for me to watch the Patriots 89-92. Literally. I was out of market and they weren’t getting any National love.

It was hard in-market: most home games were blacked out. Probably for the best as those years coincided with college so I actually got work done.

Gotta disagree with that. That drop didn’t lose them the game. Brady was clueless at the line of scrimmage which was very uncharacteristic of him. Had the pass been out sooner, things may have been different.

Manning was completing passes to scrub backup TE’s all over the field. The Pats just could not stop the bleeding.
