Unless it's Schefty, Mort or Rollo Tomase. In Schefty's case we'd require unauthorized medical records or other illicit documentation otherwise whatever it is just didn't happen. When it comes to Mort or Rollo they're both liars who suck dead donkey dong no matter what they say and any self respecting Pats fan won't believe a damn word either one of them says. In fact if Rollo said today ended in a 'Y' I'd still want multiple confirming sources and one of them had best be my wife (as I recognize no higher authority on this plane of existence). As for Mort, if he could just eat sh!t and die at the 5o yard line during half time of our home opener that would just be great.

Why would we want to do that? A starting DB at this price is a bargain no matter what the context is.

I feel like if Devin doesn’t resign Belichick could use the cap in another spot and replace him with a cheaper younger player.
Jason and Devin together is much more valuable than Jason and another safety.
My gut tells me Devin will he back so it’s more than likely a moot point.

Do we even draft one?

Really depends on a lot of factors:

1) Is there one in our pick range that they believe is a "can't miss" (as much as one can think that)? They're not going to pass up a player they think can be great because they don't need him in 2020.

2) Do they expect to keep Gilmore long term, or do they want to hedge their bets for the future?

3) Did they see enough in JoeJuan's rookie season (and do they expect his legal troubles to be nothing major) that they feel he's part of the mix going forward? Related, do they see him long term as a CB, or perhaps eventually in the mix to play safety?

4) Did JC Jackson improve enough from year 1 to year 2 that they're okay with penciling him in as the CB2?

5) Even with Jason back, do they expect him to be healthy for a full season post 30?

Lots of reasons why they might take a CB. Besides, remember when the Patriots were 6-7 deep at WR early in the year? Things can go south at a position REAL quick. Don't pass up a good player because you think you're all set.
