Pats-Texans Breaks ESPN Most Watched TV Ratings

Status
Not open for further replies.
The broadcast drew 37.965 million viewers across ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes, and 37.910 million across ESPN and ABC alone.
So ESPN Deportes racked up 55,000 viewers...

The entire discussion was based upon which game gets the higher viewed time slot. That game getting more viewers because it was in the time slot that always gets the most viewers says nothing about h or e many viewers the Patriots would have drawn in that time slot c

You are the one moving the goalposts, and of course rather than arguing facts you can only throw insults, the epic sign you know your argument stinks.

Someone is going to have to untwist you from that pretzel position.

Don’t believe me, check the ratings."

So, yes, I checked the ratings - they are there for all to see - and the Bears-Rams game at 45.4 million is 16+% more than the Pats-Texans at 37.965 million.

The Texans simply are not an "NFL Legacy franchise" like the Rams or Bears and certainly not a recent generation "Dynastic" team like the Patriots. The Texans were always going to be a drag on the ratings when put in the 4 team mix there. And the Post-Brady Patriots, aren't (yet) the Dallas Cowboys when it comes to the casual fan interest.

It's RIGHT THERE in black and white. Your goalpost moving is comedic. Facts are facts.

But yeah, keep trying hard - it certainly reflects on your 'credibility'

Sorry to interrupt. But as I see it:

45.4 - 37.965 =7.435
7.435 \ 37.965 = .1958

So it’s 19.6% larger.

Sorry carry on.

Don't underestimate the power of the Queen Of The North and Bakemas. The fact that they've been together since middle school makes them very endearing.
I think all this social media stuff is still largely New England centric. It's Pats fans following DrakeMayeLover and Bakemas, not random people seeing this stuff and becoming Pats fans.

While Drake and Vrabes are more likable, I think people will get tired of New England very soon, remembering that they hate any team that wins a lot.

I think people love Maye. I don't recall a Tom Brady Lover instachat or snapface account. Vrabel is immensely more likeable than Bill.

Brady and Belichick were nationally popular in the 2001-2003 first few years of the Dynasty too.

Familiarity (and long-term dominance) breeds contempt. I say 'bring on the hate again!'

.

Brother, everybody loved the plucky baby goat holding 6th round Tommy. TFB not so much. It's one thing to see the track star collection Rams and smarmy Martz get taken down by some hard-nosed throwback type football players and another to see your own local 11 get de-panted by the remorseless win machine PATRIOTS

Brady/Bill gave off ****y attitudes while being a boring interview simultaneously. At least that is what many NFL fans said. Bill had the hoodie and an "f u" attitude to the league and press. Brady is a much better interview now. But that is only because he is retired.

Maye has that southern accent and is very much down to earth and hard to hate. Vrabel is more open with the media. I think playing in NE helped alot because he knows most of the press by name & got along with them as a player.

The Brady/BB Pats were the plucky little team that could vs the Greatest Show On Turf. People loved 'em, from the head coach that got done wrong by slimy Art Model to the 6th round underdog QB displacing the highest paid player in the game it was a great story.

I think maybe you guys are recalling the back end of the Dynasty Pats and forgetting the beginning. There's plenty of time for Maye and Vrabel to become villains. The NFL needs villains, they're far more compelling than heroes

Besides, hater tears are just flat out delicious. I can dream of them if nothing else, I'm not letting you Kumbaya guys destroy my dreams

Speaking for myself as a LATAM viewer and native Spanish speaker, I watch all games on Gamepass International with the English broadcast only.

I abhor the ESPN Deportes crew. They have zero interesting insights and act like they're the reason people tune in.

As bad as many of the American broadcast teams are, even the worst of them is infinitely better than the Mexican team.

I don't know if this is true, but if so, very cool. The fact I am open to believe it (as are hundreds who saw this post) could be saying something about how peeps view the team and Maye.

There's time for our boy to make the rest of the NFL hate him.

Well yeah, walk before you run / baby steps and all that, you gotta start somewhere
What's your favorite ring? The next one.

As you are aware, you are comparing apples to oranges.

The Bears/Rams game is in the time slot that always gets the highest ratings.

Team A would draw better in the best time slot than team B is not disproven by Team B getting the best time slot and drawing better than team b did in the worse time slot.

Games draw fans based upon the matchup and the time slot.
The patriots would have drawn more because of the matchup and the intrigue of the game. Playoff ratings are not driven by how many fans the team has, but by how many fans of neither team playing watch.

Check the ratings. They show that, time slot equal, best teams and best matchups out draw biggest markets. Whatever game was in that time slot would have had the largest audience.
I didn’t move any goal post, you just created a strawman.

Facts :
As is almost always the case on any give NFL weekend, the most-watched game aired in the Sunday evening window as Rams-Bears averaged 45.4 million viewers on NBC

The Patriots’ win, which peaked with 44.9 million viewers in the 5:45 PM ET quarter-hour, increased 10% from last year’s Nielsen-only audience for Rams-Eagles on NBC, which aired in the same window (34.58M).

Denying that the raw numbers are driven by the time slot, is basically lying.

More facts.

Bills and Chiefs 2 of the smallest markets drew more than LA/Chicago in the same time slot and more than larger markets did in other time slots.

German commentary is pretty good. Two former coaches & three former players (incl Seabass) and they transmit with only the 3-sec delay for over the pond send and not the 30-90 sec delay of various networks. They also have a web commentator who is interacting w their sites -fans and showing posted photos from folks at game or at their homes and doing contests for tix etc. had a signed TB item once (helmet IIRC).
