Pats sign C/G Schwenke work out WR Decker

Sounds like keeping the rolodex updated in case of injuries or unforeseen consequences. From a physical perspective I think Matthews is a considerably better choice than what is left of Decker at this point. But Decker could give some short term depth and experience with option routes in case Matthews' hammy lingers.

Or, if they prefer to let Decker take the hits from the slot while playing guys like Matthews and Dorsett in different roles.

I suppose we’d need to know more info about what the front office may think about both the chances of some of these guys panning out, as well as injury prognoses.

Where is the gratitude? Every god#%mn year! Belichick waits until I'm not looking and cuts my binkie! I never did nothin' to Belichick. I supported him through 4th and Two. I stood by him when he shipped out Jamie Collins. I said nothing when he refused to cut Jake Bequette. What do I get in return? Nada! Bupkus! Sayonara binkie! We'll miss you Shane Wimann, wherever you are.

He's not gone yet.

Wimann was waived/injured, so he automatically reverts to the Pats IR for the season if he clears waivers.

He had 54 catches last year and is familiar with the framework of our system. Like you said, we could certainly do much worse in terms of combing the list of available WRs to work out.

And that was with Mariota throwing him the ball. I think he could have a very productive year with Brady.

big **** decker is a proven player, he went to a losing path when he left the Broncos and signed with the Jets and then his career went down the toilet but I think he could be that possession receiver to convert some third downs against smaller DB's.

All in for Decker if he's on the cheap and can contribute.

Yep and Mariota loves to throw it to himself and catch it...selfish player I tell ya.

Love the Brian Schwenke signing. I wanted Bill to draft him instead of Boyce in 2013; and if he had, there would've been no need to draft Stork in 2014, and that pick could've been used for Telvin Smith.

Preach Coach cap preach.

Decker doesn't offer much at this point in his career but the offensive skill group is a mess with off season lossses and injuries. Might be worth bringing him in and seeing if he can beat out one of the mediocrities currently taking up space on the roster

Other than Hogan, it's an ugly WR group for the first 4 weeks of the year. Even with Edelman, it's still very shaky

Does Decker have anything left? I'm all for bringing him in for a look. Worst case he isn't what you think, but get him some reps in case you need a WR later in the season and he's available.

The last game he played was against us in the playoffs and he did fine. 6 rec, 85 yards or something like that.

Decker isn’t what he was during his 2012-2015 “hey-day” but he’s still capable. He had 56 catches & 564 yards last year in THAT God awful offense. Also, he’s a very good route runner. He’d be 4th- 6th on the depth chart anyway, so it’s not like we need him to be our top receiver. 400-700 yards from Decker would be welcomed with open arms.

Hypothetically speaking of course..

But the releases of Nicklas & now this stiff has created a TE depth issue.

So, having 5 TE plus Develin is a "depth issue"?
BTW, they also signed Henry Poggi as a FB..

You're assuming that Telvin Smith was on the Pats Draft Board..
