Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

OK MR. Welker looks like we are going to need you back up to speed within however many days are between now and OCT 17

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

I can't wait to see the Jests and Waavens beat the piss out of each other week 1. Most entertaining.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

There is a lot of familiarity on this schedule. Outside of the six divisional games, we get SD, Pittsburgh and Indy who we have seen a lot of in recent years; Baltimore who we played twice last year. Plus, we get the Browns who are coached by a former assistant.

That is 11 of the 16 games against teams we should be familiar with. The other five are Cincy (the opener, plenty of time to prepare) and the NFC games.

Re: 2010 Schedule

The break between the thanksgiving game and mnf is almost a makeup for the no back to back home games. Almost a 2nd bye week.

Was about to post the same thing. And the Thur game is against Detroit after playing the Steelers then Colts. Almost is like a 2nd bye week before the home stretch. Big advantage.

Re: 2010 Schedule

That IS huge, probably the biggest advantage overall.

I took a peak at the Jets schedule they play three ROAD games in Dec -- Patriots, Steelers and Bears. They get the Dolphins and Bills at home.

6th hardest schedule compared to our opponents results from last season.

We are going to have to be on point and be lucky with injuries.

Who cares how hard the schedule is at this point. If I remember correctly, the Pats had as hard or harder schedule for 2009 based on SOS prior to the season and based on 2009 records, the schedule ended up in the bottom third or so.

I look at the following teams on the Pats schedule that have the potential of being significantly worse than they were in 2009:

San Deigo (Gave up a few starters)
Minnesota (will Favre comeback and if he does can he repeat last year's performance)
Cincy (really seemed to come apart towards the end of the season)

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

Awesome note:

Moss's first time facing the Vikings.

I expect fireworks.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

BTW, I hate that the Pats are playing on Thanksgiving. I guess we will be having a late dinner this year.

Isn't the minimum of games a player has to be on the PUP at least six. If that's the case, if Welker is on the PUP the earliest he could play is SD, the latest would be Cleveland.

We should have Wes for the Steelers and Colts......

Re: 2010 Schedule

No one on our schedule is coming off of an "extended" week off by playing the previous Thursday on NFL-N.

Re: 2010 Schedule

The first 4 before the bye look ok. Bengals, @NYJ, Bills, @Miami. That Miami game being a night game is a gift. The middle looks rough. Ravens, @SD, Vikings, @Cle, @Pitt, Colts. That is pretty much the make or break stretch.

10-6 sound ok?

We have them in a possible snowy early December. It should be cold.

This actually could, emphasis on could, work out to good thing. We got Colts, short week Lions, then more time to prepare for the Jets on the 6th. That Jets game will probably be big.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

Not a bad sked. Can't do anything about who you play, but as far as the scheduling of night games and byes, that seems to be in their favor.

Early bye sucks, but can't complain that it follows an away MNF game.

The Fins play the Browns, Bills and Lions at home in Dec. But they have to play the Jets and Pats on the road.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

They should have made Colts at Patriots the last game of the Season. Lets the Colts try and throw that game.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

That October slate is pure brutal,we need that Bye week to get ready

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

Some observations:

1.) Tough schedule

2.) Many of the tougher games are at home, which should help

3.) Given the locations, we could see a lot of bad weather games late in the year

4.) This team really needs to be no worse than 3-1 heading into the bye, given the way the schedule breaks.

As an aside, the Jets have a tough December, and that's probably when Jenkins will have already been IR'd.

Re: Pats Schedule (merged)

A few thoughts on the schedule:

- interesting that 3 of the first 4 are against divison opponents. The Jets will be without Holmes, which is a plus for the Pats. This could be good to get nice lead in the divison if they can start out hot, but could also be scary if they get off to a slow start with the difficult October they have

- bye week in week 5, which is the second earliest it can be. You'd like to have it in the middle of the year, but this may not be too bad because it comes before the difficult October schedule, so they can hopefully go into that strech at full strength health wise

- October 21-21 is the most brutal stretch of the Pats schedule, Baltimore, @ SD, Minn, @ Cleveland, @ Pitt, Indy. Pitt game is Sunday night so that creates a shorter week for the Indy game. This will be the toughest strech of the season for the Pats

- the Pats will be playing on Thanksgiving. I personally like this because although you get a short week before, after is kind of like a 2nd bye and it is even longer because they face the Jets on Monday night the week after

- the end of the season has 2 night games at Gillette, which should be cold. Also the last 2 games of the year are @ Buffalo and home vs Miami. Definitely an advantage with the Dolphins having to play here at the end of the year. Not too tough of a December for the Pats where usually BB coached teams preform well

- 4 night games total, 2 home 2 away, 2 Sunday 2 Monday. Then the Thanksgiving game will be nationally televised and obviously. Also, I am sure CBS has already protected the rights for the Nov. 21 game vs the Colts. So the Pats will be on national TV atleast 6 times (5 and then the Colts)

I'm counting 8 or 9 Pats games on regular TV in my area. I guess that's not bad, but thankfully there's a Pats bar close by with very reasonably priced food and drinks.
