Sorry if this was already posted....terrence Johnson CB re-signed by Pats....and OL released (simmons maybe)......not sure what re-sign of Johnson may mean....maybe they will be moving someone....

Re: per NFL Network pats signed terrence johnson CB

Reiss says that Wheatley may not be back at practice this week after his injury against the Rams and this is a depth move going into a game where reserves are likely to see most of the action.

Wasn't Johnson on NFI before he was cut? If so, could that mean he's moving to IR as part of the first round of cuts?

To bad about Simmons being released. I really liked his story and was rooting for him.

It could just be a numbers thing until the practice squad is opened since Wheatley may or may not be game ready

We will likely have two OL's on the Practice Squad. Do you think Simmons should be one of the two? I don't.

The other choices are likely to be Larsen, Welch, Bussey and Ohrnberger.

Even if one of the four makes the roster, certainly possible, Simmons has tough competition.

Yes, Johnson will take a lot of reps in the last PS game, and if Wilhite does the same, that is a clear indication he will be cut or traded.

Simmons did not play against St. Louis, he is either not good enough or is too far behind at this point in preseason to warrant retention (I lean towards the latter). He may get signed to the PSquad later in the Fall or be re-signed in January to a futures contract so he has the full offseason program to bring him up to speed.

Assuming we keep 9 O-linemen (Ghiaciuc cut, soon) or 10 (if Kaczur stays off IR for now), AND that LeVoir is also on the bubble (possible), two of the five young guys could still make the squad, leaving Simmons and only two others for the Pats to chose from for the P/S. If they all clear waivers, of course.

O-line reserves are really unclear, at this point.
