Pats offense the "2nd best unit"

Aqua, sometimes you make it hard to give the Dolphins any credit. I'm with you on the Dolphins, I really like their defense and I could see them finishing the year at 8-8 or 9-7. It is hard to say that though because you're just so freaking annoying.

Joey Porter is not an impact player. It is arguable from our standpoint if he ever was, as NE has played him quite a bit and never had to give him much thought. He's older now to boot. The only thing he gives you is a false sense that you were the better team even though you lost.

I understand your issues with using points allowed to judge defense. It isn't fair to the team with a crappy QB (last year's Dolphins come to mind) who turns the ball over inside their own territory.

You have to recognize that ypg has major issues though. Red zone defense, which is extremely important, is completely ignored by ypg. In reality you're better off allowing two 60 yard drives each ending in a FG than one 80 yard drive ending in a touchdown but ypg will tell you you're better off allowing one touchdown drive. another issue of ypg is that it ignores a defense's ability to generate turnovers. The entire world agrees that turnovers are hugely important yet your favorite measure of defense ignores it?

I'd rather deal with a system which penalizes a defense when the offense turns the ball over (and even in the case of a turnover a good defense will limit the other team to a FG, which doesn't really skew things that much) rather than one which fails to reward a team for red zone defense and turnovers.

I haven't read any flames, but IMO the Patriots O just looks like a #2 on paper. With 3 brand new WRs and a new starter at RB. You can't predict that unit over other proven units.

Strongly disagree with the Dolphins defense not being on there. The Oakland and San Diego defenses aren't the same caliber of Miami's.

San Diego's defense is not on the same level as Miami's defense?

You guys are not surprised Pats' defense is not there at all?

I thought the Pats defense should have been somewhere in the top ten, and I also thought the Rams offense should have been top ten.

And Miami's ranked 4th behind Baltimore, Jacksonville and Oakland. Add Joey Porter to the mix.

Note: San Diego ranked 10th.

Do you care to elaborate or are you just talking out of your back end again?

If you think Joey's going to be anything special in Miami you're in for a bad surprise. Porter has been on the decline, and a number of Pitt fans said as much to me last year.

I hate to say it, but shouldn't the Colts offense get #1? I would rather play Baltimore's defense than IND's offense any day.

I do think that the Patriots have the potential to be right at the top, offensively, but at this stage, we haven't even taken the field yet while the Colts O has been playing together for quite some time now.

Like other posters have said, I would have put the Pats defense ahead of the offense.
