If I were you, I'd believe it. Actually, I think they are first best. The numbers they put up this season will be awe inspiring. Wait and watch!!

Strongly disagree with the Dolphins defense not being on there. The Oakland and San Diego defenses aren't the same caliber of Miami's.

Doesnt the Fish secondary blow?

Are you smoking crack? Oakland's defense despite their offense played awesome. You can only take over inside your own 40, after only a play or two on the sideline, before you start to run out of gas.

The Chargers are young, fast and big all throughout that defense, the only questionable area for them is in the secondary - and that is mostly due to inexperience. They aren't as good as all of the hype they were getting last year but they are still better than Miami.

Again - Same as last year - Miami is old in to many key areas of their defense and those "great" additions to the secondary weren't exactly all pro's last year. Please don't make us suffer through the same garbage as last off season. Before you mention Porter - name the last great Pittsburgh LB that left and played at the same level for his new team?

*note: Vrabel didn't start in Pitt and Greene was good before he arrived in Pittsburgh.

Oakland and SAn Diego had top 5 defenses..

You guys are not surprised Pats' defense is not there at all?

Alright well did you happen to see how bad the Dolphins offense was? Miami's defense was literally responsible for all 6 wins that the team accounted for. Miami already had one of the best rushes in football and just added Joey Porter. Keep calling the Dolphins defense old, I've herd that line for 3 or 4 years now and I still haven't seen them deterirate.

Yah, I was about to say. The Pats defense gave up the second fewest points and added AT and Merriweather into the mix during the offseason...

(guess the Colts second half meltdown hurt their rep a lot)

The 'success' of the Oakland defense needs to be taken with a grain of salt - their offense was so horrible that a very conservative approach on offense by opponents virtually assured victory. Almost no teams needed to air out the ball to catch up but nearly all teams got ahead early and could just grind the ball to the very end - thus the stat making motivations and situations were removed from the formula. When you score 14 touchdowns for the season you're not going force many teams to pour on the points/yards.

I'm not saying the Oakland D wasn't any good at all, but only that their numbers need to be tempered with reality.

can Miami boy be banned for ranking defense by ypg? that's a far worse affront than backing out on a bet.

I hate facing the Miami D, but the SD defense is better. I think Oakland probably is, too. Not to take anything away from the phins, because that's not bad company.

Don't you think it's kind of dumb to judge a defense based off of things they can't always control? When you got good ol' Joey Harrington throwing picks and our wonderful offense keeping our D backed up in our own territory, it will rise the amount of points your team allows.

Yards per game is how you measure a defense.

And if that's not enough, the Dolphins ranked 5th in the NFL in scoring defense haha.

yeah, and total yards is how you determine the W/L record of a team. No wait, that's not it...

Again, is it a defenses fault when a kick is ran back? Or how about when there is a pick returned to the 1 yard line that gets punched in?
