Ranking NFL WR, TE, RB groups for 2025: Best and worst teams

Popularity lists are dumb…. especially in the offseason.

There aren’t 29 teams with better weapons than the Patriots assuming health and good execution.

Lists based off last year’s dysfunctional mess are a low effort waste of time.

Surely you can't be serious.

Pats have a long way to go. Name a player you wouldn't take from the #1 Eagles to replace a Patriots player. CB wouldbe the only position.

And who are we adding between now and then...?
We don't need to add anyone because it will all be linked to our OL and Maye. I feel very confident that Diggs, Williams, Pop and whoever the 4th is will perform well as long as Maye has time. The OL is the key to the season, imo. The defense should be much better and will allow the offense more opportunities to have the ball.

Again, the issue is numbers. The team has 9 on the roster who could be on the 53-man roster. I don't expect Vrabel to cut FIVE and then sign a cut from another team.

Sure, Vrabel will be looking at STers, LG's and CB's. And, sure, he could find a LB that he likes more then others, but I don't see us signing others unless the goal is the Practice Squad after a couple of weeks.

The notion that the Patriots offense is ranked #30 - with Diggs health being a question mark - is in part why the Terry McLaurin rumors continue.

He's a dependable 80 catches a season no matter who is at QB and wants to be paid... and with their cap space the Pats could afford to add him. I think giving Maye a target like McLaurin right now would be a HUGE boost to the offense, not to mention to Maye's overall confidence and development.

That's not to say I don't have confidence in the current crop of WRs, regardless of the #30 ranking. I think McDaniels will get a lot from these guys. I just think that for now, with the Pats getting snubbed in the free agent LT market and to a lesser degree, the WR free agent market, trade and sign deals with players in McLaurin's situation may be more fertile ground for adding good players.

Given that he's going to cost the next team a big contract I can't think Washington would be able to make a high trade demand.

I'd have to think that at least some of the $67 million the Pats have in remaining cap space is meant to help Maye either with future investments at WR or OL if that doesn't turn out to be as locked down as we all hope.

And now it seems likely that Diggs will start the season on the PUP list.

Always good to see an article like this a week before training camp to break up the monotony and get the juices flowing.
