Pats legend Joejuan Williams retires

Arguably BB's worst timely draft picks of his tenure. He was completely unnecessary and had no chance of playing any time soon. Harry and Williams were the nail in the coffin for the Pats dynasty.
Crazy thing was, we traded UP to get him. Another brilliant 2nd round draft pick screwup by Belichick.

I believe I was the first to call him SlowJuan. Not that I’m an egomaniac or anything, but I deserve credit for that brilliant name pun.
He couldn't ever track the& ball was always 2 yards behind.. how do can you have as many snaps as he's played in 7 seasons and never have 1 INT.. even a blind squirrel finds a nut..

I tried to trade the pick my owner said no.

I wish he retired before he was drafted. Soooo many good players taken between him and the Pats next golden boy, Chase Winovich.
I feel like Ochocinco, when Bill told him he'd be double-teamed all game: "Bill, come on man! Bill!"

It gets even worse. AJ Brown went mid 2nd round and they later traded out of the last pick of the 2nd round in which Seattle took DK Metcalf. That entire draft was a complete **** show. The 2019 offseason was arguably BB's worst the dynasty and his career along with 2020.

This is something Phil wants to take a mulligan on. Fans rip team's draft's yearly, but this absolutely warranted to hate.

The only thing I agree with Perry on is that the intent of the Harry pick was that the Pats wanted a contested catch guy. The Pats have needed a bigger body WR on the outside for a long time. However, Metcalf was a very big boom bust type pick. With that said, Harry was still way down the rankings of WR's behind Hollywood, Metcalf, AJ Brown, McLovin', etc. Taking Harry was a WTF? pick.

While I liked Harris as a player, he was also an unnecessary pick - especially since he was a healthy scratch virtually the entire season. Brady needed now players.

How did Phil not see that the Pats were already 4 deep at CB? Gilmore, McCourty, Jon Jones, JC Jackson. Absolutely idiotic pick in Williams.

Winovich was painful to watch after his antics on the field stopped working when The Boogymen weren't effective anymore. The guy had no rush moves or counters.

Then we have Stidham and the biggest clown in Byron Cowart who ran his mouth about Tom Brady's return: “We ain’t welcoming him back. We just play him,” "There ain’t going to be no damn ceremony for him or nothing like that ... They might clap for him, but there’s not going to be… This is our opponent. We like to win". He didn't even play during the 2021 season.

Great insights! Excellent context here. Touching on your points I truly believe BB forsaw that he knew he would ultimately have to pay JC so in theory selected Williams.. realistically probably should have been an UDFA.. as he showed nothing that I Saw that warranted him even being an actual draft selection..

Cowart I absolutely remember that tasteless comment.. for a player who showed nothing in the league to talk about the organizations Greatest ever! Laughable. We should have been looking to draft LB as Hightower was starting to age and injuries piling up on his body instead we get draft busts in the 1st& 2nd rounds that year.. wich as I've started to oay more attention too played huge reasons why we had consecutive 4 win seasons the roster was essentially a CFL team at points.. Winovich was a flash in the pan.. I equate him like Uche..

A lot of us were shocked he was considered active when he was starting. True to form, he's late to his own retirement.

Sorry, I'm a Polyanna about giving guys a break, but the only guy that got more breaks than Slowjuan is the little kid from the Shriner's Hospital commercial with the rare bone disease.

omg savage....but so true......lol.

Hart Lee Dykes without the broken kneecap. Yes, the team traded up. Some of us disliked that.

We didn't like that he, a DB, ran a 4.61 at the Combine. But disreputable groupies pooh-poohed that. Supposedly at his Vanderbilt pro day he ran a 4.5 something.

I believe it was Captain Stone who coined the nickname SloJuan. Which he lived up to.

Nope, it was me. I don’t come with much, so when I come up with something, I feel I must stake claim.

I thought Hart Lee Dykes was gonna be our Al Toon. Had an excellent rookie season despite questionable QB play. Was 2nd on the team in receptions and 1st on the team in receiving yards and 2nd on the team in td receptions. The long forgotten TE Eric Sievers led the 1989 Pats in receptions.

His 2nd season was the beginning of the end. Played 10 games, got hurt, got hurt again, and then again, andnever played another NFL game, could never get out of training camp.

We could have had AJB or Metcalf: BB Drafts are Synonymous with malpractice.

Can't have a SlowJaun thread without some sort of Captain commentary.
