The other problem is that Vollmer isnt the most durable guy either. He is also 31 and will wear down quicker. Vollmer has averaged just over 10 games a year for the past 4 years.

BTW, can I just say that I absolutely LOVED the interviews given by Blount and Jones to Michele Tofoya. Neither of them would give her a straight answer about this being a "revenge" game or the team "Winning this for Tom". And both gave her Belichickian answers..

Have you been watching McCourty trying to man up in coverage at the line?

This is my take on the secondary so far (right or wrong):

--Butler--looking about as good as expected, but nowhere near what some are suggesting. He seems raw, yet I'm impressed with his ability in man coverage. He seems to be in decent position, and I see him as progressing. Either way, he's obviously our best CB.

--Ryan--I didn't get all of the Collinsworth hype with Logan tonight, because other than the one PBU which was nice, I just think he's mainly a liability. He seems to be playing better inside, and I don't like him outside. At all.

--Coleman--I can't say that I've been able to diagnose much of Coleman, other than the plays where he seems to be close to the action, yet still allows a catch. I have noticed that he doesn't seem to be too far out of range, and I didn't see him get exposed all that often, although there certainly has been receptions that have been uncontested.

--Chung--they seem to be hiding his weaknesses in pass coverage fairly well, while utilizing his ability to come up closer to the LOS. We all know his limitations, but I have to admit that I'm rather impressed at times that he isn't being exposed like in the past.

--McCourty--still obviously the main man when it comes to range and has made some nice plays on the ball lately. That isn't meaning to say that he's always in great coverage, but his play speaks for himself, at least at the safety position. Perhaps I am missing some implied struggles when he comes up and plays closer to the LOS?

--Harmon--I've been down on Harmon in the past, but have been much higher on him since the BAL game winner this past January. I think he's continuing to progress into a fine center fielding type of safety, and there haven't been many "glaring" mistakes, which is always a great thing back there. I'd add him to the "continuing to show progress" category.

We are already seeing some new " I don't care I can't stand it" takes because the pats didn't crush the colts. Injuries really hurt today though, makes next week that much harder

If you didn't recognize the voice and were not looking at the face, you would think this guy speaking has to be Belichick's successor as New England's head coach.

Normally brady is more upbeat after a win. Today he sounded like we lost by 20.

Dungy forced to admit that the Pats pretty much dominated the game and the Colts are nowhere closer to beating the Patriots. Costas tried to use the "with a few plays here or there and the Colts might have won" but Dungy had none of it.

Dungy's an idiot on certain things, but he's not an idiot across the board. He was, after all, a coach who had some good seasons.

I specifically warned everyone here about this days before the game. As soon as it was made known that Goodell pulled a ref off this crew for some Goodelian reason,cloaked in secrecy. His replacement's responsibility was the secondary. Odd that constant blatant clutching, grabbing and holding occurred right before THIS ref's eyes all game yet he barely even made his presence known as a supposed "official". Goodell got what he desperately wanted...a seemingly closer, more competitive game than was thought by most of the sporting public. Truth is, if even half of the egregious holds on Gronk et al were actually called, this game is blowout city. Good job, Roger. You can come out now, Red Head Hiding Hood...your precious 3-3 Piguanos left the game holding their accusatory heads high...just like YOU when Judge Berman blasted your pathetic "case" right out of the solar system.

Nonetheless, there are 2 serious candidates for positional GOAT, and 2 more for Pro Bowl/All-Pro. (I don't think Edelman will make it -- but he's a serious candidate indeed, Welker had a lot of appearances, and Troy Brown had one too. Come to think of it, Vollmer's All-Pro chances are probably out the window too if he has to spend significant time at LT.)

Of course, 2 of those 4 guys were 2nd-rounders.

I'm getting pretty sick of the national football media crapping on Edleman after every single game where he performs better than 95% of the receivers in this league. They hate him, that much is obvious. Just watch any round table discussion with these ESPN/NFLN nobodies as they serve up gushing platitudes for receivers on every other team in the league. It's like they think if they don't mention him, Edelman will disappear.
