Yeah that’s a problem IMO…special teams only players over potential future starters or situational players especially on D. Some here don’t have an issue with that…I do.

There's going to be some tough decisions in this regard, though some of them will (unfortunately) be settled by injuries. But in general, you're going to have to sacrifice one of the following (sometimes two) for every situation:

1) A veteran you trust that may be nearing the end of his career or contract

2) A developmental player who maybe isn't ready for full time yet but has potential

3) A core special teamer

So, using the Sam Roberts example: If he keeps having an impressive camp, the choice to keep him would either force you to cut a ST player, or potentially a guy like Laurence Guy (not saying they should, just picked a veteran at Robert's position). It's a tough call, because you're either downgrading the position for this year, or you're losing a ST player who will contribute every game and have potentially too many guys at the DT spot and not enough snaps to go around.

O seems to look like unstoppable in shorts and shells and atrocious in pads we have to fix that.
What I've gathered from most practices is that the O has been fairly good 7v7s. Most of the bad reports are from when the lines take the field.

That's generally what I've been reading too. And while it seems very likely that this is an indictment of the OL play thus far, it is interesting that their best practice on O happened when Andrews got Barmore kicked out of practice... So maybe they turned a corner, or maybe Barmore has really been THAT disruptive. Probably a combination of both.

Interesting about Bryant over M. Jones today in the slot, we’ll see if it continues. Bryant looked good as a punt returner but I didn’t see how well he did in coverage Thursday. Hopefully this is a sign he’s improved because he was one of the problems at the end of last season - rather than it being a sign of Marcus Jones’s recent performances in camp.

First cuts to 85 are due tomorrow. I believe that the Pats are at 86, so if any of the Patriot players on the bubble are reading this, try not to be the only guy that fails miserably at practice today.
Pats are at 89 87, actually. So they'll have to release 2. edit: This includes James White as retired and Hafford being signed.

Sarcasm guys and gals in reference to the short stuff from Mac.

This would be interesting... because if Jon Jones can perform well on the outside (at least versus certain matchups), you've got two guys there that could play inside or out (Jon Jones and Mills). Creates potential for a lot of combinations depending on matchups, health, and who's playing well. So right now, you've got:

Outside Depth Chart:
Mills
Mitchell
Jon Jones
Butler/Jack Jones

Inside Depth Chart:
Jon Jones
Marcus Jones
Mills
Bryant

Shaun Wade is kind of the wildcard here too. Could play inside or outside potentially.

Ok. In your opinion short is good or bad ?
Short has its' place in certain situations but if its' the norm it won't cut it against the Iron of the League. We didn't get it down the Field much last year an opposing Defenses dream.

So regardless that Mac was a rookie last year...he should have thrown the ball deep more often?

If opponents are giving you short you take short, if they’re crowding the line of scrimmage you go long. There’s no right or wrong way to move down the field and score.

The Pats dinked and dunked their way to 3 rings in the early 2000’s, controlling the clock and scoring is only a good thing. It allows your defense to rest, it keeps the opposing offense on the sideline watching.
