OMG! It's over! Mac is 100% certain to be the starter!

You jest but the fat lady is clearing her throat. Most likely at a minimum it will be Mac's to lose. And unless he ****s himself during joint practices and/or the pre-season games...its likely pretty much over.

So the QBs are each getting what...twenty Mississippis per down?
I always thought the rule was 10. But it could be 20 now...covid...millennials whoever it needs to be because of.

On the first day of padded practice, we were treated to the media losing its mind over one bad performance by Jones. The competition was over. Cam was going to be the starter. Mac didn't have a prayer. I'm not about to start thinking that either QB has won BB's heart already. I refuse to accept that BB is already so far gone that he'd determine his QB1, from among this group, this early in training camp.

I get that QB's are taking forever, but with the whole simulated game practice at 50%, it figures that the receivers and D aren't moving at full speed either - so things take longer to develop. Either way, good to hear that Mac is holding his own, and Cam is looking exactly like he did last year. (which reminds me how crazy people are to expect him to be so much better)

I swear to god if Tom E Curran has any inside info with his new article that’s a recommendation that a QB platoon might work I will root for it to explode in this teams face so badly.

Also, interesting to hear so much about LaCosse. I had him all but gone by the first cutdown, but sounds like he's showing up as well as Henry so far. Which is worrisome for Henry and his huge $$.

LaCosse is already overdue for his next injury.

We will see. My best nostradamus attempt is Jones looks solid in the joint practices with some expected rookie mistakes and Cam looks...well...like Cam.

I don't deny part of this is wishful thinking on my part as I really want no part of the Cam part deux. But as I said in a different thread. Mac getting more reps in back to back practices is not insignificant. And I don't think BB will let this go much beyond two weeks. I think whoever number 2 is will still see more than normal number 2 reps throughout camp but they will know sooner rather than later, if they don't already have an inclination now. Probably just waiting to see if the kid can go out and play against other competition without his huggies on.

I think he'll be fine. Time will tell.

Even though this is a non-competitive scrimmage, J.C. Jackson has managed to intercept one Cam Newton pass and break up another.

I can't be the only person who found that funny, right?

That's just it, though. Pretty much everyone but Zolack and Bedard was saying that Newton's looked improved and more consistent, and that Mac's not been able to even keep pace, much less gain ground. Now, after just the last two practices, the narrative has shifted. But we're still just one practice away from a bunch of reporters flipping right back to "Cam's the starter!".

Are the reporters just out of practice? Are they just displaying their ignorance about the game? Or are they jumping on things that suit their biases and agendas? I leave that for everyone to determine for themselves.
