Patriots Training Camp Day 16 (8/24) NYG

You might think Slater would have cured everyone of the anti-special teamer bias.
Slater (5th round) . Bailey (5th). Gostkowski (4th round) . Cardona (5th Round). Ebner (6th Round) . Just to name a few Special Teams specific players that have excelled on this team..

Then you have UDFA Jonathan Jones who started out on the PS and earned he way onto the team to become one of he best Slot Corners in the league.

I liked him coming out of college, 6’5” 250, ran a 4.67, and had a 35 1/2 vertical. So can catch the ball and has some decent size/speed for a TE. But he hasn’t done squat, and has had trouble staying on the field, but I guess he’s insurance for LaCosse ?

Yep, I really liked him as a project coming out of college. It will be interesting to see if he can show something.

Warring isn't going to make the roster, but this probably gives the Patriots a slight advantage when he decides which practice squad he wants to join on September 1.

Warring makes the roster only if Asiasi and LaCosse get injured between now and September 1st. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is told that the Pats sit him down and lay out their plans for him in an effort to have him sign to the PS..

BTW. Wasn't today Training Camp Day 18, not 16?? (referring to the title of the thread)

Probably. Unless he’s another great athlete without production in college who blossoms as a pro. You know, like Russ Francis.

I’m so happy Cajuste is finally working out. He’s a talented tackle. I think Herron is pretty solid too. Add in Karras. Our backup Oline is gonna be very solid.

In honor of Howard Cossell, you mean “All World” Russ Francis right ?

I’d be SHOCKED if Warring makes it to our final 53. Best case scenario for him, he has Henry, Smith, Asiasi ahead of him. Most likely he has Henry, Smith, Asiasi & LaCosse ahead of him.

Captain is the self-proclaimed Draft GOD. His drafts have landed him a whopping ZERO rings in 20 years of complaining about Belichick. While Belichick has 6 rings and 9 SB Trips. I mean. Clearly we should all be in AWE of Captain's Abilities to see exactly how players will develop and win rings.. I mean.. His ZERO rings are just blinding..

How many rings do you have?

Probably picked up so Asiasi doesn’t have yo take all the snaps again. BUT... there is a path if others are injured because he can play STs while learning the position. If LaCosse makes the 53 we’re screwed.

Not counting this guy, a big question mark who's not had enough time to judge in N.E., the Patriots have just 2 TEs worth keeping.

I hear ya... But if Plunkett & Bledsoe could've sat for a few more games, maybe they wouldn't have become so burnt-out & a turnover machine respectively...

Anybody know how the starting 5 looks?

Heh. Kind of unfair being doubled by those two.

Picking nits here, but it looks like maybe one of them should've gone to the next level to face the LB #50 (Eric Wilson)... Unless of course it was a short-yardage situation in which you're just looking for a wall to run behind for a few easy yards...

They were on awful teams with bad olines.
But they could have sat 3 years and the same thing would have happened with bad teams and olines.

Seriously?
