One of Mac's strengths is his amazing touch on the ball

Lots go googly eyed for cannon arm throws, but putting nice touch and location on the ball makes it super catchable for the WRs to make plays and you can drop it right in over defenders

Mac has elite accuracy and touch on most of his balls

If Douglas winds up hitting, that would soften the blow a bit. But I am officially concerned with Thornton at this point.
You're concerned just a week into TC? Do you understand how absurd that sounds?

Did you stop to think that maybe they're treating him with "kids gloves" like they are Trent Brown and Judon?

I love Nick and what hes done for us, but its time to hand the torch over to the young guy and only call Nick up if Ryland gets injured or has a mental breakdown extravaganza of missed kicks

You just need to accept that he's a rookie, coach him up and allow him the opportunity to make plays and grow

I think he needs to learn when to drop it in the bucket and when to zip it more, but you're not wrong, he can deliver it with a lot of touch.

That and spending time too much in the Hot Tub.
He wasn't struggling. They just weren't using him in the Red Zone with the 1st team because they had Henry, Gesicki, JuJu, Parker and Stevenson/Harris on the field.

I'll be more worried if he's on the sidelines come the 2nd Pre-season game. I was going to say 3rd, but forgot there was only 3.

I think Nick retires or is on a another roster prior to the season beginning.

RE: Thornton and the WR's

Please think back to last year's camp and preseason and how good TT looked up until he broke his collar bone. We were all excited about him. So maybe just pump the brakes on cutting him 1 week into camp year two. We haven't even had joint practices or a preseason game yet.

Assuming perfect health yeah, cutdowns are going to be rough.. However, that almost NEVER happens, it's likely 1 or 2 guys get dinged up or worse and we suddenly are looking short at the position. We have seen this before. It will work itself out, it is still super early.

Yeah, I don't ever get worried about players who are injured week one of training camp. Two weeks from now if he is still having issues and/or not contributing, then I will start to get worried.

krist..it's worse than ever this season....

Also it seems there is extra emphasis this year on health. They are managing reps for the more important and older players. And they are not going to have a guy with a minor injury try to push through it at this point.

He'd likely be picked up as a developmental QB by a team with a dual-threat QB offense.
Or be someone’s emergency 3rd QB on game day (with a limited package of plays featuring his dual threat potential) while during the week he can be the scout QB when the week’s opponent is a running QB or take practice reps at WR, ST and even RB.

The more things you can do, you know. I would like the Pats to keep Cunningham on the 53 for his versatility. He’d be a good scout QB when they prepare for Jalen Hurts in the opener and the other running QBs on the schedule. I could see him taking practice reps at ST, WR and RB while also providing game day depth at those positions as well as being the Pats game day emergency 3rd QB.

It’s weird to me that some people are talking about how much longer camp is, but the first preseason game is in a week. Didn’t training camp used to be a LOT longer?

He is probably if anything the last thing I'd worry about on this team.. the kid has been great all off season.. But it's true that even rookies get worn out.. mentally and physically. The plays I saw didn't really seem like he was playing the ball. He'll adapt, it's good to go through what he has last few days. He is still the best corner on the roster.. all he needs is seasoning.

2 a days.. pads.. tackling to the ground.. morning practice and then evening practice.. that ultimately led to shorter careers, concussions, guys wore down easily by week 6,7 ..
