I'd be more excited about this if Diggs was healthy and ready to play. What is the estimate on when he can take the field?

It was the right move for the Pats at this time.
They absolutely needed to bring in a talented vet. Now if they can add Hunter or Aiyuk also things will be looking up.
I couldn’t care less about the $$

What does ready mean? Source?
See you soon RW

They did a reasonably good job against him in 2023:
6/12 (50%) 58yds 1 TD in the first match-up, 4/7 (57.1%) 26yds in the second.

But man...he was tough in 2022:
7/9 (78%) 92yds 1 TD in the first match-up (3/5 third down), and 7/10 (70%) 104yds and 1 TD in the second. As much as I'm not his biggest fan, certainly not a bad thing not to have to face him.

I probably would not have done it, but there are three reasons why I can live with it: 1) We won't have to listens to as much fan noise about the need to overpay for a declining receiver, maybe even less nonsense about how "cheap" the Krafts are for a while. 2) Having a reliable WR - assuming Diggs still is one - really should make life easier for Drake. 3) Maybe now we can concentrate in the draft on what is still the team #1 need - for Drake's sake and otherwise - which is to rebuild the o-line,

To me this looks like a stretch undertaken to quiet the fan noise. Even if Diggs is as we might hope, he will, given age and mileage and injury, certainly be gone or of very marginal use by the time the team can be genuinely competitive, in a couple years or so.

Well I wanted Diggs in the draft was shocked he fell to the 5th round.
Was screaming at my tv the second til he was drafted,
I first read about him in a draft magazine and then put on his tape, and said why are they saying fourth round for this guy?

Now he ends his career with us and can break in a young WR like Isiah Bond since Hunter is not falling.
If he does fall I will drive Polk to the airport.

But so too will his contract be gone.
Some transitional vets to get us from terrible to respectable is a good first step to the playoffs and beyond.

This seems mighty optimistic:

He’s a Wr1… granted a WR 1 on the back nine but the best receiver you’ve had in here in a long time.
Issue is health. If healthy, he is worth it. If not, we grossly overpaid. The fact we paid what we did is a result of being less appealing than other teams IMO.

A much needed addition to the roster. Now LT is only the true position of need that is left
That is FAR too positive a read. At many positions we still have marginal talent at the starting position Iincluding - setting giddiness aside for a moment - at WR, and very poor backup talent at most positions. At some positions, all we have is backup talent, across the o-line, for example, with perhaps one exception.
