Head scratcher. First one of FA though. Special teams?

I called this a while back. Had a good year for McDaniels in Vegas. Prototypical X receiver build and play style, even if he isn't good enough as a starter there. They need someone who can at least play that position though so all the slots and Z receivers they have can play their proper positions and develop in them.

Many pointed to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine because of the Vrabel connection, but Hollins always made more sense to me because McDaniels is the "head coach of the offense" so that connection means more.

EDIT: The STs ability also helps with the roster crunch if they add more developmental receivers to the mix and have to go heavy on roster spots if the competition extends past training camp into the regular season

Good value but this whole WR group lacks a number 1 that will push everyone into the right slot for their abilities, there's no one on this offense anyone has to worry about doubling.

If we get that player then guys like Hollins will look good, i just hope they don't think throwing a couple more WR3s into a collection of WR3s and WR4s is going to fix this thing.

It's not just WR1 vs 2 vs 3... there's also X receiver vs. Z vs. slot. Every guy on the team currently profiles better a Z or slot except maybe Baker and he's unproven obviously. Hollins is someone who legitimately belongs at the X receiver spot when he is out there and that will let everyone else play in their more natural positions to develop in them properly.

The WR1 vs 2 vs 3 hierarchy you mention is still an issue, but at least this helps with the positional alignment problem.

This feels like a waste. We really don't need depth at "mediocre WR's".

8 years in the league, this is his 6th team, only one season over 400 yards. At best he's just a special teamer.

Yes there's something to be said for versatility, but this team needs talent.

Honestly these WR spots are all jumbled to me right now. What would be your current projection with who we have?
If the season started now and we made no other moves, I’d say Bourne, Pop, Boutte, Polk/Baker.

These Bills Insiders like him
Fits the Culture scheme that Vrabes wants

Another depth piece. Hopefully nothing more than WR4 but we'll see.

Good for him... but what does this mean for the WR spot really?

Douglas 24yr olds 675yards last year entering yr 3
Boutte 22yrs old 590yards entering yr 3 (may have more room to grow)
Bourne 29yrs old 305yards (12 games)

So Hollins at 31yrs 375yards is a solution how? We don't need another low end roster WR. We need a #1 and a #2 WR. I hope we didn't pay out any guaranteed money.

Right now the plan seems to be hope Boutte makes a big jump at year 23 and that we can land Hunter in the draft and have him instantly be that guy for us.

McDaniels wanted this Hollins had a career year with him.
