I don't think we are using him properly.
He should be running Edelmans routes not Moss's.

Running just JE11s routes is a colossal waste of his talent and speed. Additionally they are not the same kind of receiver.

I hate to question anything this coaching staff does but I feel running him deep all the time is a waste of his quickness and talents.

They don't run him deep all the time.

It was definitely disappointing to see the look on Brady's face of frustration from the word go.

Have you considered another aspect of his subpar night is Brady? Injury? Too much pressure on him? The line? Great MIA gameplan? No Gronk?

I don't understand the funk he seemed to be in but we all have bad days at work.

I think he can play better but its not all on him.

The bread and butter of our offense is the WR shallow cross, with the WR starting from being lined up at any position.

Edelman was special because, though smurfy in height, he'd regularly win battles at the line of scrimmage and also then create space with short area quickness. Nobody else save Amendola comes even halfway toward matching those two skills in the same person.

Cooks and Dorsett have vertical speed, some short area quickness, but are seemingly unable to win at the LOS in crossing routes, thus they are not good "quick hit" targets. Hogan has decent vertical speed, seems to lack short area quickness, but can win more often at the LOS. Mitchell, if healthy, is probably more like Hogan.

I'm guessing Britt is here for a 2018 audition as a guy who might win LOS battles and be a more viable target on shallow crosses. I just don't know that he has the short area quickness to obtain a larger role, even next year.

Training camps in the system might help Cooks and even Dorsett with their techniques in getting off the LOS, so I hope that even Dorsett can stick around due to his age and physical ability, but his days might be numbered

Except Cooks is not quick but fast.

Also his frame and body wouldnt be able to handle the punishment on the inside. He would end up injured rather sooner than later.

What you want -- and what Josh has tried -- is to give him the ball in space but most of those attempts failed so far for one or the other reason.

Given how the Pats still have him for another year on a reasonable contract (1.5m) I think that he will still be around in 2018 at least until camp cutdowns. He remains the main Cooks insurance so while he might end up being more inactive than active on gameday rosters I am not sure why they would cut him.

You know Moss had some day where he didn't get a lot of yardage too. So does Gronk.

But those guys are really just complimentary receivers, I guess.

If Brady hits Cooks in stride on the 2nd int he is in the endzone and you arent posting about him.

About those HOFers you said it I didn't.

Really like this signing, wanted Britt here from the 1st time he visited here a few years ago.

I think while the poster you were replying to did it for the wrong reasons I still think that there is a conversation to be had about how Cooks route tree (or at least how he has been used so far) seems a bit limited.

Now dont get me wrong I think he is on track for a good year statistically speaking and he makes parts of our offense (both passing and running game) more dangerous because opponents have to respect him but as I have said in other posts on some level I was expecting him to be used more diversely.

The first domino to fall.. Freeny is gone..

Here is a nice compilation
Curious as to why Belichick would pass up such a big, talented, physical specimen who had mastered the system here, if you’re anything close to correct

He’s sucked over the past two years. It’s a fact.

Michael Floyd, especially one who came here at the end of the season and mastered it like you claim.

Oh, and by the way, Cooks wasn’t even here when Floyd went elsewhere, and Amendola’s situation was still up in the air
As we know, he chose Cooks and the restructure to keep Amendola well before, so I don’t even know what that debate is about.
Contradicting your own opinion.

The bottom line is that if Bill Belichick even agreed with 10% of what you’re claiming, he’d have retained Floyd on a cheap deal.
10% of a good last man on the bench?
s. If he was 1/4 of the player that Andy Johnson is suggesting, he wouldn’t have made it out of Foxborough.
1/4 of a good last man in the bench?
Oh my gosh are you seriously this dense?

For the record my actual comments were that Floyd obviously picked up the system because he contributed and he did a good job for a last man on the bench, injury replacement.
Mr Strawman wants to say I said other things which of course I did not.

So if we resign Ricky Jean that means we still have to make another move for Britt.

And do we also have to make one more when we reinstate Gronk?

Yes. (At least) 2 more moves to come...

I am sure he got put through a physical.

Chad Brown and Laurence Maroney got through physicals. I could pass a physical too. Doesn't mean I can [play in the NFL. Britt got cut from the worst team in football because he sucks. Stone hands according to Browns fans.

Yes a crappy franchise like the browns. The guy had 1000 yards last season.

He got cut by the worst team in football. Most likely nothing except being a thug.
Yeah. People ditched by bad teams never pan out, just fade away, like Corey Dillon, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Danny Woodhead, Gilmore, etc.

Scrubs.
