Patriots Sign WR Kenny Britt (Edit)

Nice pickup if he can hold on to the ball. Big, tough receiver, good, full tree, route runner.

Interesting so they need to let two people go.

Wondering if this means Branch's knee is really messed up or time has run out on Vinny V's return.

Three by Saturday, when Gronk's roster practice exemption expires.

EDIT: Apparently, Gronk's exemption is only for today, not for the full week. So, the Pats will need to cut the third player by the end of business (after practice) today.

It seems to me that the return of RJF would indicate that Branch's knee (ankle?) issue is likely to keep him out for at least 4 weeks.

For Britt, I pretty much expect Reedy to go.

For Gronk, I think it might be Freeny, but that the Pats will wait until they have a better estimate of Van Noy's injury status. If, by Friday, it still looks like Van Noy can't go Sunday, I can't see them cutting an LB.

Interesting that we haven't heard a peep of speculation about the issue that Chung had at the end of the game Monday night.

WRT Valentine and Mitchell, it sees to me that the practical deadline for them resuming practice with the team might be this week. That would give them four weeks of re-acclimation to full-speed/full-contact before the first playoff game.

Also interesting, in a strictly hypothetical sense, is that HT would be eligible for re-activation from IR in wk-17. Not gonna happen, but still ...

I'd guess Branch and a shocker David Harris maybe

Interesting thought about Harris. He has no ST value, while Freeny does. Still, it sees unlikely to me that they'd cut any LB until they're certain that Van Noy is good to go.

Will not be surprised to see him thrown into the fire Sunday as a red zone target.
Yep. Squealers announced Joe Haden is practicing this week. I'd pick on him all day long.

This signing is Akin to the Michael Floyd signing towards the end of last season. Britt gives the Patriots more size outside the numbers and in the red zone. It also may be a sign MM can't come back which would suck since I've been rootng for his return all year.

Maybe this does open the door for them to bring back Valentine though.

If he can do a repeat of that super-tough touchdown and that big monster block (Floyd's entire NE highlight reel), it may be enough.

Prime at this point of the season we ain't finding better also we need a player who can catch the ball in traffic. Brandin Cookie loves the ball delivered when the Defender is nowhere in sight...he struggles in close quarters. I think Britt might prove to be a nice pickup he can have success here on physical ability alone.

After one bad game let's not call him Cookie
I remember games this year where he went up fought for the ball and won.
Would still like to see Josh Gordon get traded here.
Brady tried to Chuck the ball up like he was playing catch with Moss in his prime and Cooks isnt that guy.
No one in the NFL not named DeAndre Hopkins or AJ Green is.
Yes I purposely let Antonio Brown out of that list because he isn't a go up and get it guy he is a amazing route runner who effortlessly gets open and plucks the ball out the air without breaking stride or slowing down.
Here is the matchup I would do against Pitt.
Gilmore 1 on 1 against Brown Rowe on Bryant
Butler on Schuster.
That would be the matchup I have Gilmore should have safety help all game.

Butler has been on Brown past few years and has done fairly well. Brown is going to get his catches just have to limit him. Wouldn't Gillmore be better suited for Bryant due to size?

Yes. That's what I expect. Butler on Brown with safety help, Gilmore on Bryant or JuJu when playing man.

Edelman and Brady calls him Cookie also it's been two bad games in a row 17 yds against Bills the week prior. I think we are seeing some of the chinks in Cookie armor that led to his departure from the Saints. I said it before and will say it again Cookie is a complimentary WR who works well with others...he cannot do it all by himself. He ain't no Odell Beckham.

I think BB will give him different looks as the Squealers have a pretty diverse set of receivers he needs to account for.

Sometimes it might be Gilmore on an island.

Sometimes Malcolm with bracket help over the top

Depending on who is out there, hell they might even put Rowe on him on shallow routes with bracket help and let Gilmore cover Bryant, Malcolm on JuJu and JJ on Rogers.

The scary part of this is I haven't even brought up LB and Jesse James who are #2 and #3 on the team in receptions.

You know Moss had some day where he didn't get a lot of yardage too. So does Gronk.

But those guys are really just complimentary receivers, I guess.

If Brady hits Cooks in stride on the 2nd int he is in the endzone and you arent posting about him.

Cooks is also why they scored the 1st TD. Might not have made a reception but he got interfered while open in the end zone

Dont see them parting with Harris when the rest of our LB crew apart from KVN looks like a Kindergarden..

I don't think we are using him properly.
He should be running Edelmans routes not Moss's.
I hate to question anything this coaching staff does but I feel running him deep all the time is a waste of his quickness and talents.
It was definitely disappointing to see the look on Brady's face of frustration from the word go.
I don't understand the funk he seemed to be in but we all have bad days at work.

Patsfan2 is a pathetic troll idiot. Why even respond to his stupidity?

R. E. Cooks Vs Miami... If brady didn't suck ballz all game cooks has 4-85 and a td
