camp / ota arm
yes, and we need a 4th for camp.
===================
A 6th rounder wouldn't surprise me at all, perhaps even a 4th.

We probably have our QB's for 2023 (Jones and Zappe). 3024 and 2025 are completely open.

I was just able to assign the "Player signing" tag. Had to scroll. You can't scroll up or down at all?
No I can't scroll there for some reason. I just see those options. Weird.

Not all of Hoyer's salary was guaranteed. Only $1.4M. And the Pats will get a credit in 2024 for what Hoyer earns up to that amount with the Raiders.
Is Hoyer player for free (with the patriots picking up the tab even if he stayed home)?

I wonder if it's limited somehow. Will let Ian weigh in.

My God, what a STUPENDOUSLY INSIGHTFUL contribution to this discussion! Is that conclusion drawn from your own painstaking research, or an intuitive take based on decades of accumulated knowledge? I don't know how you do it. I can't help but see my own perspective swayed by such thoroughly authoritative observation. The final word pales in comparison to what you bring to the table.
Yikes my response was intended to save you some key strokes. Get off the ledge dude no wait... Jump... Jump... Jump.

Some folks just can't receive a compliment.

Trace McSorley is literally lowering the bar. He's even shorter than Zappe, but without any of qualities that make Zappe an intriguing option.

Can't say I feel too good about that. Maybe if the WRs were Rice, Moss, and Owens.

Expecting a Draft splash maybe not the first round but the mid round range they are looking at athletic QBs for sure.
Prepare to be disappointed, kid.

Put me on ignore and we will both be happy.
You can continue to pretend everything is fine with the roster and the team dynamics and hurl insults to anyone with a different viewpoint than yours.
I want to see the team improve and not simply worship at the BB altar

No he came over from Vanderbilt with Franklin. He was a QB and Safety in HS and then went to Vanderbilt as a safety. Franklin new he could play QB and brought him over to Penn St.

I watched him play in HS. Came down to my kids school and put on a clinic while kicking their ass his senior year. Best HS QB I have ever watched. Then again as far as I know he is the only QB I have watched play in HS that is in the NFL. So...
There is some connection to BOB.

Same with Gesicki.

Supposedly BOB is creating a new offense and Mcsorely has some knowledge regarding certain principles.

Religious affiliations to one side, I think we all want to see the team improve.
In practical terms, how is this likely to happen if, let's say, the famous "dissension" stuff is secretly close to boiling point, causing RK to right now fire BB?
Then what?
New magical saviors arrive as HC & GM?
Mentioned elsewhere: BB's past successes came from willingness to act Not like all his peers, even experiment w/ personnel in various roles, not so?
2022 OC experiment a definite failure - OK; & how does his overall success/failure rate compare to peers, over ~2.5 decades?
Do we expect rare, sustained Team success to go on forever, never hitting any low points?
Hmm...senility & terminal mental decline must be the reason.
Given physical health, actually, no medical reason for that is shown per research.
Not to drag in politics, either - but I wonder if any claims of BB losing his fastball due to age are held by those who may have voted for the current occupant of the WH?
Take things in steps; no SB this year does not mean we can't build toward another SB, maybe within a 3-4 year time frame.
There seem to be enough strengths in the current version of the Pats to get into playoffs, win 1; keep building on that.
Even small/backup QB's can help a team take large steps imho, one practice/game/season at a time.

Were you expecting them to sign a stud QB in April for the minimum wage?
No, we're Pats fans. We're demanding it. McSorely's camp competition. We have two guys on staff who've out-achieved him already. Worst case, he's the emergency 3rd guy. He probably doesn't get that chance. (I mean, he'll have his shot, and the guys ahead of him aren't world-beaters. But I still think he's the third car on that shame train.)

It was tabled at the March owners’ meeting, but, from what I’m reading, the emergency 3rd QB proposal is likely to pass come the May meeting in one form or another. Likely, the hang up is whether the emergency QB can be on the PS, be active, and not require a standard elevation be used.

I think McSorley was signed to be the Pats’ emergency QB. He’s experienced and brings a different set of skills than the other two QBs.

Incoming camp cut. Gave the media something for two weeks. Not against a draft surprise, but Mac is the guy and pending the draft, going to do some damage this year.

Gee, @Tunescribe , what is your take on this guy? He looks like a journeyman to me. My guess is that somebody put a good word to the Two Bills to help McSorley escape from the dumpster fire in the desert..

Frankly, I think we're going to see a post June 1 veteran QB signing after the Rodgers merry go round stops

I was just busting PatFan2's balls (don't tell him).

Agreed on McSorley unless BOB knows something about him that can be developed.

Dude's a midget who sucks... But BOB knows him, and there's some value in that...

I agree with GoHeels; it still wouldn't surprise to see a June 2nd-designated UFA QB signed here after the draft.

I like the signing, he may not be tall, but he can run.
Maybe we are slowly making a shift away from the classic pocket passer.

Short money signing for insurance is not a bad thing.

Hey if McCorkle beats out Zappe and (your name here, whether by draft or acquisition), let's hope for Mac to do some damage.

Here's my whole take on Mac:
1) He didn't really have a fair shot you can construct comparisons from given the coaching situation
2) That said, his way of dealing with the adversity was distinctly un-"Patriotic"
3) That said, we can fill the rest of the off-season with the super secret chess game behind the scenes with Bill brushing back Kraft and vice versa... that only matters if further use of Mac is therefore compromised
4) All that said, here we are. He has to win the position in camp. It won't be given to him. And if he responds to that with anything less than chip-on-shoulder intensity, maybe his old nickname, "Joker," is too spot-on.

Let me soften that: That's a lot to put on the shoulders of a guy in his early 20s. He wouldn't be a "joker" in the derogatory sense... but he would be a prima donna in NE terms, and that's begging them to find another guy. Hence the emphasis on an open competition in camp this year. Rejoice, ye Zappe freaks.
