Maybe Captain will provide more input on why he doesn't like him, but here's why I don't like him:

First, he's never played a full season. There's always something bothering him.

Second, I watched a lot of Bucs games during the Brady years and he always stood out in a bad way. If there were big plays, you'd see the back of his jersey chasing down some guy. But he wasn't the only one. Their entire secondary was pretty awful and a big reason for the Bucs downfall. Was pretty much the same guy in Detroit before his injury where he gives up yards.

He was predictably let go and traded by Tampa because he wasn't worth re-signing. This isn't a Talib or Gilmore situation where they were highly touted 1st round picks possibly misused on their former teams.

Posters are excited because of some out of context ESPN graphic and he got paid a bunch of money - therefore he must be good. We have seen for many years teams pay mediocre players where they quickly find out he wasn't good. See Trey Flowers making the 3rd most for DE's in 2019. People are still trying to figure out who Robert Hunt is.

The good news is that it's really a two year deal as I projected at just over $17M per season. He's also not going to be asked to take on opposing team's top WR's as he did in Tampa or Detroit.

The Captain hates him because he’s a hater, period.

Yep; he and that Tampa secondary were ****ing HORRIBLE vs the Lams in the 2021 POs, in Tampa no less.

I found it interesting when Wolf said he wanted to draft Carlton Davis but he got vetoed lol

I also wanted us to draft him.

Gilmore doesn't seem like the type of CB who would transition well to FS. He's a press man CB. But maybe I’m wrong.

Given the importance of the position, we need 5 corners (not counting those who are primarily STers. I expect that we will add another, if only for camp competition. We have Gonzo, Davis, Jones and Austin as the universal backup. Adding Davis is a huge upgrade over Jones, but we need a CB even with Jones on the squad. Perhaps y'all are counting on Dial and Bolden.
