A rookie HC

Not all rookie head coaches are the same. See Sean McVay, Kevin O'Connell, Matt LaFluer.

NOTE: looking at the guys I listed, maybe the Pats should be looking at McVay's coaching tree. Well, the offensive side of the ball of the coaching tree. Zach Taylor has been the worst of the bunch. McVay's defensive coaching tree has been garbage.

My top candidate: Innovative offense and helped revive Goff's career. Reasonable to assume he would come as a package deal with old friend Ray Agnew as GM as well. To me, Johnson is the main reason the rebuild in Detroit was successful.

I know he's an offensive mastermind but do you want a rookie HC to follow a rookie HC? This teams needs proven stability right now.
What if he's the next up and coming thing?? Inquiring minds want to find out.

A rookie HC
Ive had enough of rookie coachs for awhile. Just because someone is a great OC or DC doesn't mean they''ll be a great HC.
This nonsense has been going on for Five years, i want a coach the can bring stability, mistake free and hard nose football.
I'm tired of watching O lineman that can't block, false start, and can't line up properly. I'm tired of a defense that can't tackle or get to the QB. i'm tired of watching garbage wide recievers that can't catch or be in the proper place on the field etc. And i'm tired running backs that cant hang onto the ball

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there are only 4 head coaching vacancies, right? Pats, Jets, Bears, and Jags. Am I missing anyone? The Giants are keeping Daboll.

That’s also really good news, this is a remarkably low number of job openings, so more chances to get the candidate you want. In the recent past, I believe there have been 6-7 openings annually.
Saints. Most of us completely forgot Dennis Allen was fired mid-season.

I will never be over it
You get the right management in place, you get a great guy with the #4 pick and you don’t pick top 10 for another 5-10 years. Like what I’m anticipating with the Chargers.

You get the number 1 pick but retain Mayo and Wolf, you pick top 10 over and over for years. Like the Brows, Washington (in the past), the Jags.

Yes, I wish we could have had both. But I’m more concerned that the team gets this management selection right than with the loss of the #1 overall pick.

Not just that, but someone with the experience, tenacity and vision to really be able to pull the whole organization together. Wolf isn't that guy, so the HC needs to be able to do it.

Nick Caley...McDaniels OC disciple is currently there.

Either Vrabel or Johnson will come with their guy.
That is my hope.
I'm really willing to give Wolf a shot with a competent HC who can provide him with guidance on what players need to be drafted based on the offensive and defensive system/scheme.

I really think Mayo was so ****ing clueless he didn't do Wolf any favors.

I am not of the belief that Mayo would have saved his job if the Patriots lost yesterday. He was gone regardless and the win is devastating to the future of the franchise.

Who's your guy??

That would be a bad move. Johnson might be the Josh McDaniels of this decade.
He's in a great situation. Certainly an offensive wiz. But, who knows if he can manage the political side and run an entire team?

Pats should NOT be looking to give another young coordinator his first crack to find out.

McVay and Shanahan worked out well.
