Baker gets 5 million to suck with Seattle ... I would take $1 million to suck with a team and I'd be very happy.

Except in this case, it's not revisionist; it's how I - and prob. some others -felt in 2007 regarding Patrick, and last year regarding Thomas.

Please explain to me what you saw in Thomas, either here or last year in N.O., that should make me wish he was still here ????

The ability to catch the ball?

I wish he was still here, although it would have been bad for his career.

Pass-catching TE's are of no use to us unless we go back to the way we were in 2006.

Thomas caught 21 passes in 3 years for the Patriots and 25 last year for the Saints. He is not Daniel Graham when it comes to blocking. Whether or not the PAtriots feature the TE position, I just can't grieve the loss of Thomas. Maybe they should have looked for a higher draft pick. but his talent and producton are easily replaced.

He was mis-used in this offense, no two ways about it.

Compare his numbers, where he had 35 catches as a back up TE to Shockey, to Ben Watson, who had just 29 catches as the primary TE in our offense.

By the end of next year, I can see him being the starter and Shockey being dumped.

The point wasnt missed. I just never saw his talent as being anything special, either here or in N.O. Not a day goes by when people think, "Gee, wouldnt haviung Dave Thomas here make a difference".

Actually, people were pining for Thomas this past season, especially after seeing that Baker couldn't break loose in the open field and was really only a receiving threat in "big body" passing situations.

Dave Thomas as a difference-maker? Probably not.

Dave Thomas as a former top-100 pick who could be counted-on to be at the right place at the right time, and to catch a 3rd-down pass while Brady is getting pressured, and to use his body & hands to catch a TD in a GTG situation, and to continue to learn to become a better blocker and to always give effort while doing so? Yeah; why not?
