Patriots Release TE Chris Baker
He was set to have a $2.37M "cap" hit in 2010. According to Miguel, "there's a $1.2 million option bonus in 2011."
It's possible this is to just restructure his deal.
Gotta give Reiss credit on this one. He here is a post he made on February 23, albeit saying that 2010 would be Baker's final year:

This move leaves Robbie Agnone and Rob Myers, who were both on the practice squad in 2009, as the lone TEs under contract for 2010.

Baker also has a large option bonus due after the 2010 season, so developing a younger player is important because this could be Baker’s final year.
