Sacks in the preseason don't necessarily translate into real sacks in the regular season. Reporters record sacks in the preseason based on opinion. Some would clearly be sacks in the regular season. Others would be the defender gets close to the QB, but never really has an opportunity to get a sack.

I tend to do the opposite of Perry. I give the defender the credit for the sack but also still give the QB and receiver the benefit of the doubt that he could avoid the sack and still give them a plus play too if they make it.

There are exceptions where you judge it not even to be close but usually those end in dead plays and vice versa sometimes it's small enough to just call it a pressure rather than a sack.

The OL has replaced 4 of 5 starters. If there were a good OL available I’d look at him too.
It doesn’t change the fact that edge rusher is certainly a need.

Why do you think the defense is miles ahead of the offense? We may struggle badly to rush the passer. The run defense certainly isn’t not a concern. The safety position is questionable and our top 2 corners are injured.

The job is to win now not give up and wait 2 years to try.

Based on reports from media at practice and what I have seen in the preseason game. Do you not agree that the defense is in a better position currently?

IF Barefoot Mack Hollins can catch on to McDaniels Offense seamlessly. I think K Bourne will too: I'm for Bourne over the Baker possibility. At least Bourne can catch a pass in a real game.

Maybe I’m misreading what you’re saying, but Bourne already played for the McDaniels offense in 2021 and had the best season in his career. So I don’t think there’s any transition to worry about with him; in fact he was one of the guys who complained about the Patricia transition and wound up in the doghouse.

So did Hollins in Las Vegas that's what I'm saying: why run with a slug like Baker over a proven vet like Bourne??

I wouldn’t. I think Baker clears waivers in a heartbeat, and it’s a question of whether he’d want to sign with the Pats PS or someone else’s if he has the choice.

For me the question is if Bourne even makes the team as the 7th receiver (Diggs, Douglas, Boutte, Hollins, Williams, Chism). Maybe he’s more injured than we think and will be one of those IR-DTR guys at cut-downs?

Rolled up on can result in a lot of things, some could be longer than the other. Additionally, under the current rules a player only needs to be on IR for 4 weeks before being eligible to return. So it’s not the half-season wait like it was initially.

Thanks: I was thinking 8 for some reason. That's why they're so quiet on his front makes sense.

I think Bourne would be so much better with Diggs drawing Elite coverage.
