His strategy is probably the same as last time - use the Patriots to show off his worth and get a big deal elsewhere. Will others be sucked in this time? I say yes. By that, I mean he will never see the money the Lions offered him again, but some team will still offer him more than what Belichick offers. So from his point of view it will work out.

That assumes he actually plays well here and isn’t done.

I can agree that when they add someone to a cast purely for their skin color or sexuality it shows and is a problem. It’s a bigger one though if there is nothing but white men with important roles though. Whoopi Goldberg said how important seeing Uhura on Star Trek was to her. While I am not in love with Falcon being turned into captain America I am sure there are a whole host of black kids who are saying I can be anything i want to be, even captain America or president because of Obama. It’s not something we have put too much importance on it’s something that unfortunately needs to happen because it was neglected for so long.

Next season Collins will be 33 years old. He's not getting a huge contract from anyone. His BEST bet is to stay with the Patriots as long as he can and then retire.

So are 25% of the country. There are tons of reasons for it besides being lazy or not going to the gym. I’m not saying those woman should be celebrated but they should be able to buy clothes at a reg store like old navy and not at the woman equivalent of big and tall. Not that I know you but I can tell from the way you write you got a 30 lb beer belly and are in no position to judge.

Why would a person gauge their value on who is in a movie, on a tv show ot in a magazine?

It’s one thing to discuss whether opportunity exists but it’s silly to say people should be ashamed of who they are because models are chosen that look different than them.

Wouldn’t putting extremely healthy people as the perception of ideal be best for society so that people strive to be healthy. Wouldn’t a thin, in shape “role model” be better for society than one than makes people feel better about not being healthy?

Nothing wrong with that- could even be educational as we analyze how body-shaming came to be such an effective money-milking machine. I read an interesting story a while ago about the time television first came to Polynesia. Prior to the arrival of TV, Polynesian women had no idea what dieting or makeup was. They didn't distinguish between being thin or fat.
