Patriots - NFL's Second Most Hated?

I would put the San Diego and Indianapolis as our two biggest rivalries right now. However, are there any teams who we don't have issues with? It seems the only benign teams are in the AFC South.

Just pointing out why the Pats aren't the most hated team is all pal.

The Cowboys have been hated for decades, the Pats have had a 10 year run.

As far as SD goes, yeah it sucks losing to them, but it doesn't change the fact the Colts are 4-1 in the last 5 against the Pats, or that the Pats haven't won since 2004.

As for why I'm here when I'm bored I stop by from time to time, not often or anything.

I happened on this thread and noticed some trash being talked just thought I'd point out why the Pats aren't number one and point out the Colts have owned the Pats of late.

What kind of run have the Colts had? I know 4-1 lately, but what else.

Well I voted for the Raiders because I've hated them since I was a kid in the 70s. Cowboys I hate too, since then.

Patriots...I don't hate them, heck I rooted for them Superbowls. Actually 4 times. Against the Packers (Curtis Martin went to PITT) against the Rams, as the underdog, against the Panthers, ex-wife liked the Panthers, against the Eagles...I hate the Eagles...The two other times, I wanted Walter to get a Super Bowl Ring, just as a fan of the game, and I didn't want BB to tie Chuck Noll as the only Coach to win 4 SuperBowls, so I had to cheer on the Giants...which hurt, cause Giants fans are punks.

But I don't hate the Pats. Hate Losing in the Playoffs to the Pats, but don't hate them.

I'd never root for the Raiders or Cowboys under any circumstance. My nightmare Superbowl is the Raiders vs the Cowboys. That would be the first time, I didn't watch the game.

I think the Cowboys have been hated long enough, they are on the downfall now so let the Patriots be the most hated...it will be funnier that way when everyone gets made at our 4th ring...

I can believe that the cowboys are the most hated because I HATE THE DALLAS COWGIRLS!

Just thought since someone said what have the Cowboys done lately the last time the Pats won the SB was in 2004.

Yeah and they also enter every season as the odds-on-favorite to win it all. They were also a play away from beating the eventual SB champs both in '06 and '07. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in over a decade. Your point makes zero sense.

Colt's have won 4 out of the last 5.....So what? Thats just manipulating statistics to paint a rosy pic for Colt's fans.
How about the Pats have won 15 of the last 21 meetings? We can manipulate these things also, but it still doesn't mean anything. The Colts would have to win the next 16 in a row against NE just to draw even in the series.

Yeah, and the last time the Cowpokes won one was in 1996. So what's your point?

Cool. On CBS Sportsline's site, it seems like they only allow Steelers fans who hate the Pats to register. I understand "haters hate", but I don't understand hating someone just because they beat you. I don't hate the Giants, for example.

You guys are a touchy bunch. The reason I mentioned the Colts being 4-1 against the Pats is because some "real football fan" up there started talking crap about Manning's facial expressions when he plays the Pats. Like I said, enjoy the facial expressions, I'll enjoy the W's. It is funny how much Pats fans talk about Manning's looks though. Personally, I could care less what the guy looks like. I want to watch him play football, not date him. I didn't realize how important looks were until I started talking to Pats fans. You guys really pay a lot of attention to that sort of thing around here I've noticed. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Some other guy up there posted that the Colts are only 3-1 in the last 5 against the Tom Brady led Pats and 1-0 VS. Matt Cassel. Ok? "Only" 3-1 against Tom Brady? 3-1 is still a .750 win percentage. That's pretty good last time I checked.

Also said was that if the Pats had had Tom Brady last year they would have destroyed the Colts. Based on what? When is the last time a Tom Brady led Pats team destroyed the Colts? 2004? In 2007, they barely beat the Colts. I know this is a Pats board and so 99% of the posters here are Pats homers but come on. Maybe the Pats would have won that game last year if they had Brady, maybe they wouldn't but recent history kind of says they wouldn't have "destroyed the Colts Brady or not.

And the Colts, just like the Pats, and every team, had injuries last year. The Colts weren't playing at full power in that game last year either. The Colts O line was torn up all last season. They were starting two rookies on the O line several games last season. Manning and Saturday both had injuries to deal with Lilja was out the whole year. The point is, don't act like the Colts were 100 percent for that game either. And the bottom line is the Colts won and are 4-1 against the Pats in the last 5.

You homers can say "they got lucky" one game, or "the Pats lost because of a bad call" for one game, maybe two if you want to sound like a real whining hating homer. But 4 out of 5? That's not luck. It's not bad calls. It's not injuries. It's not "Polian changing the rules". It's your team getting beat at a .800 percent clip. As a Colts fan I had to suck it up for the early part of the decade when the Pats were beating the Colts. I was there when Patriots fans complained about Colts fans "whining" when the Colts lost. Now that the shoe is on the other foot whining seems to be ok for a lot of Pats fans.

Back to the OT, the reason I pointed out that the Pats have only been successful for a small amount of time (as far as overall NFL history goes) is to point out that the Cowboys have been hated since at least the mid 70's. There are generations of Cowboy haters. The Cowboys are old school, the Pats are new money. The reason the Pats even rate at all has less to do with success, which a lot of you guys seem to think, that with Spygate and BB being a jerk.

If it was based just on success, there would be a lot more Steeler haters, 49er haters, Redskins haters etc. They all have more championships that the Pats and in the case of the Steelers have had a lot of recent success but people don't hate the Steelers. The Cowboys are hated mostly because of decades of success and the whole "America's team" BS and amount of media coverage the team gets. Look at the Raiders, people still hate them, pasionately, and they haven't won jack crap in years.

Someone asked if the Pats are just on a small run "what about the Colts"? Well, what about them? Are they near the top of the list for most hated? The (Indianapolis) Colts are new money too, they stunk until Manning, Dungy and Polian got here. Who hates the Colts besides Pats fans? The biggest gripe I hear about the Colts is Manning is in too many commercials.

Who gives a shyt? The Patriots aren't out to be the most liked, they're out to win the most championships. So far this decade, they've done that more than anyone else.

As for the Colts? Manning garnered a lot of sympathy for being Bill Belichick's bytch for the first half of this decade. His recent success since isn't enough to swing the tide the other way. As for why Peyton Manning is more popular than Brady or any Patriot? Probably b/c our country is full of redneck goobers who'd rather root for a fellow douchebag goober who was accused of sexual harassment in college than some cleancut guy with the supermodel wife like Brady. They can relate to it more, I guess.

This redneck finds your characterization of the Royalists worshipping at the feet of the Crown Prince of Manning as "rednecks" to be completely in error. Check your noble ESPN and mediot pundits and see the difference. We rednecks have better taste. :snob:

"His recent success isn't enough to turn the tide the other way" lol?

What tide? What are you even talking about? The fact that he's beaten the Pats 4 out the last 5, won a SB, is 3 time MVP, considered one of the greatest of all time isn't enough to turn what "tide"? Your hate of him? Obviously your a bitter Pats fan and of course you'll always hate Manning no matter what but what "tide" are you talking about?

Yeah, for the record I don't hate the Colts. Why would I hate a team that my team beats up in the playoffs anytime we face them?

I Still hate the Raiders and the Cowboys though.

"beats up"?

The 3 times the Colts have played Pitt in the PO's, two were extremely close, coming down to the last seconds. Losing games by a dropped pass and a missed FG aren't exactly getting "beat up".

But for the record I don't hate the Steelers either, their fans for the most part are pretty classy and I think by and large they have a classy organization.

I feel the same way about the Steelers. They play football the way it was meant to be played. Defense, down in the mud. Hardnosed, run the ball. Hammer the opponent into submission. My second favorite team after my beloved Patriots.

Interestingly , the Steelers and the Patriots have a similar history. Eons of losing, while building a fan base that enjoyed their lovable under-manned losers. The Steelers turned it around in the 1970s after 50 years of losing. The Patriots turned it around in the 21st century, after 40 years of mostly losing as an undercapitalized ownership who told all to win if you could; but conserve string, aluminum foil, and everything else...

Jealosy, insecurity and mostly immaturity. Same reason some Pats fans go to other sites. When I was five, I used to point at other kids and go, "Nyah, nyah, you suck," and I'd think it was funny. Hilarious. Well, some people are still emotionally five years old, and still get jollies from saying, "Nyah, Nyah, Pats suck," or whatever.

Some fans go to other sites to read the news, true, and never interfere with other fans discussing their team on their site. But most go there to annoy others, inject themselves into conversations that don't pertain to them (these people do the same thing in real-life, never having learned social skills for whatever reason), and to "correct those delusional Pats/Colts/Jets/whatever fans."

================================================

What ever, Pats suck. neener neener neener.

You guys are a touchy bunch.

Blah blah blah. For the life of me I will never understand the thinking of people who don't like the Patriots (or any other team,) go onto that team's board and rip on that team, and then act all surprised and hurt when people tell them to piss off. What did you THINK Pats fans were going to say when you come in here and say stuff like this? "Geez, you're right, the Patriots aren't that good a team, guess I'll go become a Colts fan now that this wise man has helped me see the light." Sheesh.

If you walked into someone's house and took a dump on their living room floor, would you be puzzled when they seemed offended? Get a clue.

I can guarantee you that many of the Pats fans on this board aren't just "homers" who would stand up and cheer if Bill Belichick and Tom Brady walked out on a football field and stabbed a bunch of puppies in the head. We accept that the team, the coaches, the players, etc. don't always do the right thing. But it's one thing when another Pats fan points it out and another when a fan of a rival team points it out.

Or look at it this way since you don't seem able to grasp the concept: say your wife tells you could stand to lose a few pounds, and then her ex-husband tells you the same thing. Which is constructive criticism and which is an insult? (Or better, which are you going to interpret as which?)

Tomorrow, BTW, I'm going to drive down to Milwaukee, walk into a meeting of bigshots at the Miller corporate offices, and say, "Boy, I sure do enjoy drinking Budweiser." I don't see why that would bother them.
