Patriots - NFL's Second Most Hated?

I found this when I opened Twitter this morning and thought a few of you would find it interesting.

2. Only the Cowboys are more despised than the Patriots. SportsNation singled out five teams fans loved to hate. The Cowboys drew 36 percent of the vote, followed by the Patriots (34 percent), Steelers (12 percent), Giants (9 percent) and Raiders (9 percent).

There are tons of other interesting things in the article that have less to do with the Patriots and more to do with everything else NFL. However, here's another Patriots-related topic that was voted on.

It's good to be king. I'm surprised the Pats weren't voted as the most hated just based on the success they have enjoyed. In SB36 they were the beloved underdog, now they are the hated powerhouse. Everybody wants to knock the Pats off their pedestal.

This is embarrasing as a fan of the team. I'm very distraught over this. I mean how can the Pats be the #2 most hated? They need to win the Super Bowl this year and then they can be #1 again.

This was being discussed on NFL Radio yesterday. The host (I think it was Adam Schein) talked about the jealousy factor as the Steelers and Giants were next on the list. He also said that a lot of "former Cowboy fans who are sick of waiting for their first playoff win in a decade" probably voted for the Boys.

I found that last part pretty amusing.

Pats' rivalries to me are in this order:

1. Steelers (always lurking in our down years)
2. Jests (love the hate)
3. Miami (love the hate, just a little less)
4. Colts (Peyton's distressed facial expressions are priceless)

Just pointing out why the Pats aren't the most hated team is all pal.

The Cowboys have been hated for decades, the Pats have had a 10 year run.

As far as SD goes, yeah it sucks losing to them, but it doesn't change the fact the Colts are 4-1 in the last 5 against the Pats, or that the Pats haven't won since 2004.

As for why I'm here when I'm bored I stop by from time to time, not often or anything.

I happened on this thread and noticed some trash being talked just thought I'd point out why the Pats aren't number one and point out the Colts have owned the Pats of late.

I understand what he's saying but it's a bad comparison. While the Pats haven't won a super bowl in almost 5 years, the Cowboys haven't won a stinkin' playoff game since 1996. However, I don't understand why Colts fans, Chargers fans or other fans come onto this board. Can somebody help me out?

While Peyton Manning is 4-1 against the Pats, he's 3-1 against Brady and 1-0 against Matt Cassel. Last year's game was a gift with Brady out and David Thomas being a douchebag by committing a personal foul. Even though the Colts won, I'd be a little worried about my team because they couldn't stop the Pats ground game and were getting manhandled at the line. The way the Colts played in that game against Matt Cassel, they would've got an a** whopping had Brady played. This time around, Tom Brady and the Pats are going to return to Indy and annihilate them. While the Pats have improved their defense and increased their depth on offense, the Colts as usual, haven't done squat.The Colts are done! Oh yeah, Manning and his facial expressions are 0-2 against the Chargers in the playoffs. How do you like them apples?

I know. I have to laugh when people say ESPN loves the Patriots. They give us a ton of press, all negative, but a ton and to some people that equates to love, I suppose.

Yup.lol If I were him, I'd be more concerned about the 0-2 in the last two playoff games against San Diego than I would about a 4-1 record against the Patriots. Two of those wins are questionable anyway. The NFL admitted a blown call that gift-wrapped the victory in the AFCCG and the game last year was basically handed to the Colts after our beloved TE got the most bonehead personal foul call.

Whatever though. The two teams will meet again this upcoming season and we'll see how things play out.

Jealosy, insecurity and mostly immaturity. Same reason some Pats fans go to other sites. When I was five, I used to point at other kids and go, "Nyah, nyah, you suck," and I'd think it was funny. Hilarious. Well, some people are still emotionally five years old, and still get jollies from saying, "Nyah, Nyah, Pats suck," or whatever.

Some fans go to other sites to read the news, true, and never interfere with other fans discussing their team on their site. But most go there to annoy others, inject themselves into conversations that don't pertain to them (these people do the same thing in real-life, never having learned social skills for whatever reason), and to "correct those delusional Pats/Colts/Jets/whatever fans."
